Claire could become Harrison's hero in Jordan's scheme on Young and the Restless
By Sean OBrien
Jordan is a heinous individual on The Young and the Restless. She is a plague that has infected the Newman family since Claire was born.
Most people never accomplish outmaneuvering Victor, but Jordan has done exactly that. I would label her actions as diabolically fantabulous, with soapy hyperbole intended with that invented phrase.
Jordan has kidnapped Claire and Harrison, so the Newman family faces a tenuous set of circumstances. Victoria and Cole don't want to believe their rediscovered daughter is helping Jordan, but the text messages come from her phone, so she looks guilty.
Nikki Newman is taken off Victor's chessboard
Nikki is tough. Anyone who has been married to Victor three times, with the initial nuptial famously taking place in 1984, can rightly claim titanium-level mettle.
Backhanded credit must be given to Jordan for using Claire to lure Nikki to the cabin months ago when this icky mess began. In effect, Jordan has taken Nikki off Victor's chessboard. The purposeful distraction reels him, preventing him from entirely focusing on this worthy, grievous nemesis.
In addition, Nikki had misplaced compassion when calling for help after Jordan intentionally downed poison. That happened during what could be termed the second act of Colleen Zenk's villainous character.
Harrison's bunny is the plot device
Jordan raised Claire after stealing her from Victoria and Cole at birth. They, along with all old-school viewers, just recently learned what happened. Such is creative license within this entertainment genre, and we love it if the storyline hits hard and the ride to an impactful outcome includes clever detours.
Using Harrison's lucky bunny was a noticeable plot device. The recasting of this character to Redding Munsell is also understandable, with the older actor being called upon to handle more complex scenes.
Hardcore daytime viewers sensed Harrison's emphasis on the bunny and his explicitly giving it to Claire in the Genoa City Athletic Club foyer would prove meaningful. It has.
Suspending disbelief in Genoa City
Fans understand that there is no way Jordan could have known Harrison would forget his lucky charm in the Neil Winters Jazz Lounge. Claire's masterfully disguised aunt also would not have been able to predict her perceived traitorous great-niece would find the golden rabbit and trail after Kyle and Harrison.
The sequence of events was necessary to write Jordan into the Abbott mansion. How she entered, chloroformed Claire, and took her and Harrison out of the house with none of the residents being aware of those events is questionable. But on with the show.
Placing Claire under Jordan's control must mean Hayley Erin's character will play the ultimate hero. A scenario where that does not prove true is if the writing staff is preparing to shock the audience and have Jordan kill Claire off and then escape.
However, the above would seem illogical and extreme. All elements allow Claire to be an enduring and endearing character. When redeemed, Kyle also easily telegraphs as the first romantic interest of her renewed life and her status as Summer's new rival supercharged.
