There's been a lot of buzz around Euphoria season 3. Much of it has been about behind the scenes messiness and drama but that's not the only news fans and lookie-loos are wading through. It was confirmed that the hit HBO original's "core" cast will be returning. This includes Eric Dane as Cal Jacobs, Nate's father who illegally recorded himself and his sex partners, and kept his increasing collection of videos in his office. One such video happened to be of Jules.

Cal ended season 2 having walked out on his wife and two kids. After years of suppressing his desires which led to quite a bit of emotional and anger management issues for his sons, he decided to call it quits on living the "perfect" life. When Nate caught up with his father, who was squatting at one of his construction properties with strangers he'd met, it seemed like Cal had every intention on conducting his life how he saw fit.

Nate, however, wasn't about to let his dad off the hook. It appeared he had every intention on shooting him as he was armed but it turned out Nate wanted to tell Cal how thoroughly he'd screwed him up and that he'd called the police on him. The weapon he chose to use against his father was the man's own criminal activity. In season 3, presumably, we'll learn what exactly happened next in Cal's twisted saga.

Reportedly, we can expect there to be a time jump. Enough years are supposed to have passed that the teen characters will have graduated high school and are figuring themselves out as they navigate young adulthood. This may mean we'll be returned to their lives in their 20s. As for the adult characters we've come to know, at least in terms of Cal, that does mean they'll also be in different phases of life as well.

On Dax Shepherd's Armchair Expert podcast, according to Variety, Eric Dane shared "I was optimistic that it was going to come back so I’m very happy." But we aren't likely to see Cal behind bars. He specifically requested that not be the entry point for where we pick back up with his character.

"The first thing I said to Sam [Levinson] when we wrapped season 2 was, ‘I don’t want to be behind bars.' So I’m almost 100% certain that I’m not behind bars…Anything else that follows I’m fine with."

If Levinson keeps to that request, that leaves a lot open to explore with Cal potentially still estranged from his family. What does his life look like a few years removed from his arrest? Is it still debauched, did he slip back into repression, or did he become a less horrible person? We'll have to wait and see, but we can pretty much expect something wild and unsettling.
