Suits is finally getting the long buzzed-about revival! Here’s what we know about the upcoming Suits: Los Angeles spin-off!

Debuting on the USA Network in 2011, Suits focused on Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), an absolute legal genius who goes to work for Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), a top attorney for the Pearson Hardmann law firm. Just one problem: Not only did he never go to law school, but Mike never graduated college due to various issues. Seeing the man’s brilliance, Harvey hires him nevertheless.

Mike has to hide his secret while handling the firm. The show was a hit backed by a great supporting cast, including Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson, Rick Hoffman as rival lawyer Louis Litt, Sarah Rafferty as Donna, Harvey’s assistant/love interest, and Meghan Markle as Rachel Zane, Mike’s eventual love interest.

The show had a great run, even after both Adams and Markle left, with Amanda Schull, Dule Hill, and Katherine Heigl joining. It ended in 2019 after nine seasons, with Torres starring in a short-lived spin-off, Pearson

The show was popular for a while in reruns, but no one expected what happened when it premiered on Netflix as the series exploded in new popularity. It topped the Neilsen charts for 12 straight weeks and set records for viewing.

That naturally led to talk of a revival of the show. It was boosted by Adams, Macht, Rafferty and Torres reuniting at the Golden Globe Awards. Now, it’s happening for real, so here’s what to know about it!

Per TV Line, the series, titled Suits: LA, won’t focus on the characters of the original series but rather on new ones. That includes Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor now working for an elite Los Angeles law firm. Per the logline:

"His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved."

It’s uncertain what connections there are between this series and the original, but the fact it’s titled Suits: LA indicates there will be some sort of crossover with the original. It is written by original show creator Aaron Korsh who will executive produce alongside Dave Bartis, Doug Liman, and Gene Klein.

Stephen Amell has been cast in the lead role

The first major casting announcement for Suits: LA has been made. If the show gets picked up, Stephen Amell will be making his return to Network TV. He's been cast in the role of Ted Black. Amell is best known for playing Oliver Queen in the hit CW series Arrow which opened the door for an entire superhero universe to spawn dubbed the Arrowverse. The actor also starred in Heels, a wrestling drama that aired on STARZ for two seasons.

TVLine reports that more casting announcements will be made in the coming days.

Suits: LA premiere date is still a mystery

Right now, the show has only ordered a pilot from NBC, which is set to start filming in March. It’s up to the network chiefs if it’s worth continuing after that. So, while it’s up in the air if this revival hits NBC this fall, it shows just how massively popular Suits is that it’s getting a sequel show to continue its fun legacy.

Suits seasons 1-9 are streaming on Peacock. Seasons 1-8 are streaming on Netflix.
