Fargo season 5 episode 9 soundtrack: We'll never hear the song Y.M.C.A. the same again
By Sandy C.
The Fargo season 5 penultimate episode had us all on the edge of our seats! But season 5 episode 9 does feature a fun moment and song everyone will recognize. Spoiler alert! Missed the penultimate episode, "The Useless Hand"? Go stream it on Hulu before reading on as we'll be diving into a few spoilers.
Roy Tillman streams a video call to his followers asking them to join him in battle. Well, he doesn't say the word "battle," but might as well! He knows that his ranch is about to be raided and is in desperate need of backup. Can you say cult? Sure enough, men begin to arrive, and to the perfect song!
One only needs to listen to a second or two of the beat to recognize the song, and everyone in the English-speaking parts of the world can sing along. We're talking about Y.M.C.A. by Village People.
Thanks to Fargo, we will never hear this song the same again -- but we mean this in the best way! The song is already catchy, now Fargo fans will hear this song and have a chuckle remembering the scene.
Fargo is a series one can appreciate for its clever storytelling, its talented cast, and the effort put into the soundtrack. In episode 8, Fargo season 5 gave us a somber version of the Britney Spears hit song "Toxic," which I instantly added to my playlist! Another song from the penultimate episode is "Whipping Post" by The Allman Brothers Band, which plays as Ole Munch (Sam Spruell) saves Dot and hands her a riffle, telling her "the lion is free."
The SWAT team may have arrived, and Roy has his fanboys, but I have a feeling the ultimate showdown will be between Roy and Dot. The penultimate episode does not feature any deaths, but it sure did set the stage for an intense finale! Are you ready for it?
Don't miss the Fargo season 5 finale next Tuesday, Jan. 16, only on FX and streams the next day (Jan. 17) on Hulu.
