Poppy continued to rule out Bill being Luna's father on The Bold and the Beautiful, but the soap has laid the ground work for the potential for her dad to be closer to home than she'd be comfortable. Finn walked in on the mother-daughter pair's conversation today a bit after Luna said she could get a paternity test and Poppy asked her not to. He was aware that he'd interrupted something but carried on since neither woman was going to open up about what was going on.
Pleasant as always, Finn was happy to see his aunt and embraced her. It's been quite some time since they've been around each other. In fact, the last extended period they'd spent in the same vicinity was during his freshman year of college. Poppy came to stay with him and his parents for a bit. Jack and Li were busy with work, so she was the one keeping an eye on him and helping him through a pretty tough first year.
Finn shared that Poppy got him to loosen up and would close his laptop so they'd have impromptu dances to shake out the stress. It sounded like a good memory, but it wasn't one Luna was a part of because it occurred during a time in their lives where she wasn't born yet. Specifically, a year before she entered the world. Poppy abruptly left and Finn always wondered why she did.
If your alarm bells were ringing, so were mine. The easy guess is that despite his busyness, Jack still found time to carry on an affair with Poppy and Luna is a product of that dalliance. But the please, please don't go there guess is that Finn isn't just her cousin, he's her biological father. Now, there wasn't anything off about Finn's interactions with his aunt. He came off like a nephew who thinks his young aunt is beautiful, yes, but also free spirited and cool. Like he looked up to her and saw her like a friend not like he had inappropriate feelings for her.
Poppy on the other hand left me questioning her. She was fine in front of Luna. Her rejection of the dinner invitation he extended to her and Luna had to do with the bad blood between her and his mom, Li, so it's doubtful she'll be breaking bread with him and Steffy anytime soon. But when she and Luna left the design office while he took a call, Poppy turned to stare at Finn as she walked out. Then, later, she looked through the crack of the door to watch him on the phone.
It's my hope that her wistfulness has to do with the way she's had to distance herself from her nephew because of a potential affair that she carried on with his father and that she's been keeping his sister from him this entire time. Otherwise, The Bold and the Beautiful could be about to take a turn that's less than savory, especially because it opens the door to a plot involving Finn that he clearly has no memory of but she does. I'd rather keep those worms in the can.
In the CEO office, RJ and Luna met up to talk. He'd been at the beach house, putting up pictures in the place to give it a personal touch, but she wasn't answering his texts. Finally able to ask her what happened, Luna told him that the conversation didn't go the way she hoped. With the way Poppy acts it's as if knowing her father will uncover this dark family secret. She may have hit the nail on the head with that one unless the soap writers just want us to be guessing around until they reveal Bill is actually her dad and Poppy's emotional because she doesn't want to lose her.
At this point, we have three potential options and only one of them won't send Luna running for the hills.
Hope gets Ridge's blessing
Today's episode also picked up where Brooke and Hope's conversation left off. Brooke has made her position clear. She doesn't think Thomas can make her daughter happy and she fully believes that if the two were to get married it'd be the worst mistake Hope has ever made. Ridge, however, doesn't feel the same. He's on their side and he's proud of his son.
Ridge even carried himself over to the cabin to tell Hope that he thinks she and Thomas are good together as parents, co-workers, and friends. From what he can see, it looks like that could form a lasting partnership if she's as invested in it and feels for Thomas what he feels for her. He ended his speech by saying he'd be happy to call her his daughter-in-law which touched Hope.
Brooke's conversation with Thomas did not go the same way. She'd walked in on Charlie telling him about Esther Valentine having been in the building for her fitting. The head of security clearly has a crush on her which Thomas gently teased him about but they had to cut their chat short when Brooke asked to speak to Ridge's son alone.
She asked Thomas what he was thinking by asking Hope to marry him, but it's the same old song and dance with Brooke. She doesn't believe Hope's feelings are real. She's of the mind that Hope is trying to fill a hole in her heart and she's using Thomas' devotion to do it. No matter what the both of them say, that's just how she feels and it doesn't look like it will ever change.
Brooke's feelings on the matter haven't phased Thomas. He went to see Hope, greeting her with a kiss, and shared with her his talk with Brooke. He's accepted that that's how Hope's mother perceives their relationship, but it has no bearing on whether he's going to continue to see her or their future. For her part, Hope told him about the nice conversation she had with Ridge, and Thomas was happy about what his father told her.
Thomas is willing to wait however long Hope needs to make the decisions she has to make, but he knows one day that the ring she's chosen to wear on a necklace will be on her finger. That day maybe sooner than he thinks if Hope's talk with her mom has led her to go against what's expected of her.
