Fire Country season 2 episode 2 spoilers and what to expect

Fire Country season 2 won't be slowing down even in its second episode. Titled "Like Breathing Again," and directed by star Kevin Alejandro, the episode will see both Station 42 and the Three Rock crew having to perform a rescue in a cave. The synopsis describes their task as "dangerous" due to the highly complex cave they have to navigate.

The action gets started after Station 42 is called to break up a bonfire party. They most likely have to rescue partygoers who decided to wander off into the depths of the cave with no knowledge of its layout or make-up. From the promotional stills that have been released, we can glean some information on what's set to happen. Here's what we know!

Gabriela does a water rescue

In Hidden Remote's interview with Stephanie Arcila (going live next week!), the actress teased Gabriela would be using her diving skills this season. That'll be put to use in "Like Breathing Again" as the above image shows her covered in water wearing what looks to be a floating device and there's a shot of her in the trailer underwater. We saw in the season 2 premiere, "Something's Coming," that Gabriela has a renewed comfort with diving and her specialized skill set is one that will be of much use to the team.

Cole goes on his first assignment

We don't know much about Cole, but he did join Bode at Three Rock Fire Camp, so we will be seeing him out in the field with the rest of the crew. His first assignment is the perfect opportunity to learn more about him, his interest in this program, and what he brings to the table as a first responder. Also, considering Bode found out that he could be a father, Cole is the perfect person to talk to. As a father himself, he could share some insight and help Bode process the news he received.

Bode and Genevieve come face-to-face

It looks like Genevieve might be one of the people at the bonfire party which leads to her and Bode crossing paths as shown in the still above. While Bode is aware of who he might be to Genevieve, it was revealed in the premiere that she hasn't asked who her father is. This is going to be a scene that'll have us leaning toward the screen as it's one we've been waiting nearly a year to see.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Max Thieriot spoke about the dynamic from Bode's side of this fledgling bond:

"We’ve gotten to see the emotional side of Bode through his mom and family in moments, but now we get to see his softer side. He’s going from prison and trying to leave behind everything he just went through. To go from the anxiety and stress and try to adjust back to life outside is really difficult. We expose a lot of the vulnerability that Bode is capable of through Genevieve. "

Sharon and Bode reunite

In the trailer for the episode, Bode and Sharon embrace, so we will get to see the mother and son reunite on-screen. Their relationship will be interesting this season as Sharon has chosen to take a step back from Bode and no longer is reducing her world down to him and his needs. Obviously though, she loves her son and we anticipate seeing each other for the first time in months will be emotional for them both.
