Found season 2 is happening at NBC: What we know so far about the next season
By Renee Hansen
NBC has renewed its latest procedural drama, Found, for a second season. Shanola Hampton returns for another round of missing-person cases that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Found was created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll, known for her work on The CW series All American, which premiered on NBC in 2023. Season 1 received favorable reviews and was nominated at the 35th GLAAD Awards for Outstanding New TV Series. The series was also nominated for Outstanding Drama at the 55th NAACP Image Awards, and Caroll was nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Dramatic Series.
The first season introduced Gabrielle "Gabi" Mosely, portrayed by Hampton. She is the head of a crisis management firm, Mosely & Associates (M&A), that seeks out missing person cases that never received the attention they deserved. Gabi, who was once a victim of kidnapping, has staffed her group with others who have been or have loved ones who were kidnapped.
Found season 2 release window
NBC release its schedule for the upcoming season, which confirms that Found will now air on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET. This spot was previously held by Law & Order: Organized Crime, as that series will move to Peacock for its next season.
What is Found about?
The story follows Gabi and her staff who work cases that are the forgotten ones, centered around people of color and those who face public bias due to their identities, whether it be their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. Her staff includes associate investigator Margaret Reed (Kelli Williams), whose son disappeared 13 years prior.
Gabi does have a deep, dark secret that gives her the upper hand in solving the cases. She has turned the tables on Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), the man who abducted her when she was a teen, as she holds him captive in her basement. She uses his insight to get into the minds of the kidnappers so she can locate the missing individuals.
The first season's finale set the show up for an interesting story. Sir, who escaped Gabi's basement and has yet to be found, is on the loose and could try to make good on his threat to kill Lacey. Gabi's team also knows that she'd been holding him captive which has broken their trust in her, particularly for Lacey as she won't take Gabi's calls. The second season will be starting in a rough place for our lead and you won't want to miss seeing how the show moves forward now that Sir is no longer "trapped".
Returning cast members for season 2 include Hampton, Williams, and Gosselaar, along with Gabrielle Walsh, Arlen Escarpeta, Karan Oberoi, and Brett Dalton. Newcomers announced for season 2 include Dionne Gipson, Michael Cassidy, and Danielle Savre in recurring roles.
How many episodes are in season 2?
In an interview with Deadline, Hampton revealed that the second season of Found will consist of 22 episodes, nine more than the first season. According to Hampton, the new season will flesh out the stories of others in the M&A crew, each with their own traumas.
