Ghostbusters isn't the only new movie this weekend! Here are 5 other movies in theaters (and streaming)

A new addition to the Ghostbusters franchise is in theaters this weekend (March 22), titled Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. However, as popular as the franchise is, Frozen Empire has not been getting the best reviews. It's a good thing there are plenty of more options for moviegoers!

Currently, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has a low score of 45% on Rotten Tomatoes. Needless to say, this seems like a movie you want to watch on streaming, instead. After all, a trip to the movie theater is not very budget-friendly these days. Available on streaming, there's Road House and Shirley. And on Hulu, you'll find Anatomy of a Fall, which is not a new debut, but is finally available on streaming in case you missed the movie in theaters.

Sandy's 3 must-see movie picks: Immaculate, Road House, Late Night with the Devil

Immaculate

Where to watch:

Playing in theaters

Cast:

Sydney Sweeney, Alvaro Morte, Simona Tabasco

Quick synopsis:

When a young nun is invited to an Italian convent, she discovers terrifying secrets, and it may be too late to escape.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire? No, thanks! Don't get me wrong, I love the franchise (well, most of the movies), but I think I can wait for Frozen Empire to become available on streaming. Instead, I'm going to see if Sydney Sweeney's Immaculate has bigger spooks to offer.

Immaculate is a psychological horror that follows Cecilia (Sweeney), a young nun who is invited to reside in an Italian convent. Everything appears to be picture-perfect, but, to Cecilia's horror, she quickly learns that this couldn't be further from the truth. There are sinister secrets and motives hidden in every corner, which Cecilia quickly discovers as her warm welcome washes away. Immaculate also stars Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, Dora Romano, and others. The movie is rated R for language, nudity, grisly images, and strong violent content.

Road House

Where to watch:

Stream the movie on Prime Video

Cast:

Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen

Quick synopsis:

Dalton, a former UFC fighter, looks to start fresh by taking a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse, but trouble finds Dalton no matter where he goes.

Road House is a reimagining of the 1989 movie of the same name, but being a reimagining, you don't need to know anything about the original to watch and enjoy this new take. In the movie, Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Dalton, a former UFC fighter who always seems to be followed by trouble. It appears as if he is finally able to start fresh after taking a job as the bouncer of a roadhouse in Florida. Unfortunately, word gets out that Dalton works there to folks who, let's just say, are not huge fans of him. Now, instead of running, will Dalton face his past? It's going to be easier said than done!

In addition to Jake Gyllenhaal, Road House also stars Daniel Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, JD Pardo, Arturo Castro, and Conor McGregor (in his acting debut), among others. The movie is rated R for strong violence throughout, which was expected, pervasive language and some nudity. Check HERE for more details on the rating.

Late Night with the Devil

Where to watch:

Playing in theaters

Cast:

David Dastmalchian, Laura Gordon, Ian Bliss

Quick synopsis:

To save his show and boost ratings, Jack Delroy, the host of a late-night show brings on a parapsychologist as a guest to spook audiences. But Jack gets a lot more than he bargained for.

As you can see, I am pretty much all about horror this weekend! If you also love the genre, but don't want to go to theaters to watch both Immaculate and Late Night with the Devil, you'll love to know that the latter will be available to stream on Shudder in just a few weeks on April 19!

Late Night with the Devil is a found footage haunting story that follows Jack Delroy, the host of Night Owls with Jack Delroy, a late-night talk show struggling to keep audiences awake (no pun intended). The story takes place in 1977 when, in an attempt to save his show and boost ratings, Jack makes a daring move to host a spectacular Halloween episode. Jack invites a parapsychologist to his show along with a young teenager who is the sole survivor of a recent Satanic church mass suicide.
