How to watch Sight Unseen on TV and online
By Sabrina Reed
A new procedural is making its debut on The CW, after the fantastic run that Wild Cards had. It's called Sight Unseen and it's bringing Daniel Gillies (The Originals) back to the network as a lead in the series which focuses on Dolly Lewis' Tess Avery and her continued work as an investigator despite being diagnosed as clinically blind.
This is a new premise for The CW as the network works to build up viewership that'll stick around for its more crime oriented programming whether its with procedurals like this Canadian partnership with CTV or unscripted content like Crime Nation.
How to watch on TV
Sight Unseen airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW starting April 3. To watch live, you'll either need access to the network's channel via a local affiliate, cable, or a streaming TV provider. For the latter there are a few options:
Streaming TV provider | Subscription cost |
---|---|
Hulu + Live TV | Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV, Disney+ (No Ads), ESPN+ (With Ads): $89.99/monthLive TV only: $75.99/month |
Fubo TV | Pro: $79.99/month |
Youtube TV | Subscription: $72.99/month |
Note: If you can't watch Sight Unseen live, you'll need to use the services, when able, to DVR episodes as they won't be available on-demand.
How to watch on streaming
New episodes of a CW original can be streamed the day after they air. So, on Thursdays, Sight Unseen's latest episodes should be available to watch on cwtv.com and the CW App. You don't need a log-in or a TV provider to access the platform. It's completely free, however, it is ad-supported so you will have to contend with commercials like you would if you were watching live.
Outside of the network's own streaming service, it's unknown if the series will have a stateside streaming home. We'll let you know if this changes.
What is Sight Unseen about?
As mentioned above, the show follows Tess Avery, a homicide detective who quits the force after she's diagnosed with Leber's Neuropathy, a disorder that leads to vision loss. Tess leaves the force because she nearly got her partner, Jake Campbell (Daniel Gillies), killed while working a case. However, though she's put law enforcement behind her, Tess hasn't given up on helping people.
She decides to use the app EyesUp to "pass" as a person with sight so she can continue to pursue casework. Her new partner is Sunny Patel (Agam Darshi), an agoraphobe based in New York City. What Tess doesn't know is that behind Sunny's bright, enthusiastic personality is a well of hurt and tragedy. She won't leave her home because of a violent event that happened in her past.
In the season opener, "Tess," our lead is going to be looking for a missing woman. What happened to her is described as a "brutal abduction" but there's hope that she's still alive. As you'll come to see as the season progresses, each episode of Sight Unseen will feature a case but also highlight a member of the main cast. Episode 2, "Sunny," will partly focus on Darshi's character. Episode 3 is titled "Jake" and will likely highlight Daniel Gillies' storyline for the season.
Sight Unseen airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
