Law and Order: Organized Crime isn't coming to NBC in October (or at all!)
The Fall TV season finally feels like it's back to normal. Many popular drama and comedy series have released new seasons over the past few weeks, with more shows premiering soon. But fans of Law and Order: Organized Crime aren't so lucky this October because the show is not joining the primetime line-up on NBC.
Law and Order: Organized Crime has been renewed for a fifth season, but the popular drama series now has a new home. NBC has revealed that the show will exclusively be airing on Peacock. And while we know that 10 new episodes will be coming, we don't yet have a premiere date for them.
The season 4 finale ended with a major explosive cliffhanger when the "youngest of the Stabler brothers found himself with a briefcase full of a deadly Russian nerve agent handcuffed to his wrist."
We saw him as he set out on the "private jet of criminal mastermind Julian Emery," and we don't yet know if his cover was blown in the process. In season 5, fans are eager to see if Joe Stabler Jr. will survive, and are also waiting to learn more about whether Emery is aware of Joe's communication with the Crime Bureau.
While little is known about which cast members will be returning, according to NBC, yes, Christopher Meloni will be coming back to the show as Detective Elliot Stabler for season 5 along with showrunner John Shiban. In May 2024, Meloni posted a photo slideshow on Instagram teasing the renewal, but we don't have confirmation yet if everyone pictured will be involved in the season. And what's arguably even more exciting is that he's also confirmed Olivia Benson will be making an appearance in the upcoming season.
Where can you watch Law and Order: Organized Crime season 5?
When Law and Order: Organized Crime returns with a new season, the show will now only be dropping on Peacock, and will no longer be airing live on NBC. It's very likely that episodes will still be released weekly, and we expect that there will be 10 episodes in all.
This is not the first series to switch from NBC to Peacock, and it's something we expect to see more of in the future. I appreciate the flexibility that Peacock offers as someone who can't always watch live, but it can be frustrating when a show that has aired a certain way for four years suddenly changes its platform or schedule.
Seasons 1-4 of Law & Order: Organized Crime are currently available to stream on Peacock, and check back soon for updates about when to expect new episodes! Catch up on old episodes now before the new season.
