FBI: International fans are reeling from yet another huge cast exit! Why is Luke Kleintank leaving the show, and when will fans see Scott Forrester go?

For a show running only three seasons, FBI: International has seen an astounding number of cast changes. It began at the end of season 1 as Christiane Paul departed as the team’s liaison Katrin Jaeger. Her character was explained as promoted at Europol with Eva Jane Wilis joining as her replacement, Megan “Smitty” Garretson.

But season 3 has been pushing it even more. First, in the season premiere, Jamie Kellett (Heida Reed) shocked everyone by announcing she was leaving to take a position back in Washington D.C., leading to a sad goodbye from former lover Forrester. Then, after nearly losing it attacking a suspect, Damien Powell (Greg Hovanessian) was transferred back to undercover work, where he was better suited. This came with the arrival of Amanda Tate (Christina Wolfe) and the expansion of the Fly Team’s support staff.

Now, Deadline broke the word that Luke Kleintank will be leaving as Forrester before the end of the season, with his last episode set for May 7. This means Carter Redwood (Andre Raines) and Vinessa Vidotto (Cameron Vo) are the only remaining cast members from when the show started (not counting the team's mascot Tank).

Why Luke Kleintank is leaving FBI: International

The actor shared a statement to Deadline on the departure, confirming it will be after the season 3 finale and that it’s for family.

"After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI International. This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life. I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home. Their unwavering dedication and remarkable talents have made every moment on set an unforgettable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. Lastly, I would also like to extend my thanks to the fans who have supported us through the first three seasons."

Forrester was absent for a few episodes in season 2 as Kleintank and his wife, Christina Vignaud, welcomed their first daughter, Ruby, in 2022. As FBI: International films in Europe, Kleintank likely misses being with his family so much and wants to spend more time with them, which is commendable.

It does look like the show has been prepping for this, as Forrester has been stepping away from field missions and has had more of a supportive role coordinating operations from the office. It’s unknown how the show will write off Forrester as he may leave like Jamie did, although there's a possibility for a darker fate.

CBS wasted no time in announcing that Colin Donnell of Chicago Med will guest star in the last two episodes of season 3 and likely he's Forrester's replacement. For now, fans know they have a few weeks until the May 7 episode to see Scott Forrester in action before he leaves FBI: International.

FBI: International season 3 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
