NCIS: Origins will have more than one Gibbs and, yes, one is played by Mark Harmon
NCIS: Origins has found its Leroy Jethro Gibbs! The anticipated spin-off focusing on the early years of the beloved agent is one we have been eagerly waiting for, and now we know who will be playing the titular character. Plus, we won't just have one, but two Gibbs's in the show!
Actor Austin Stowell was cast as the young Gibbs, who we will meet as he begins his career at NIS, which the agency was previously called at the time he became an agent. The show is set in the '90s and will follow Gibbs when he's in his 30s.
Stowell is no stranger to NCIS, having played a character on NCIS: Los Angeles back in its second season. He has also appeared in The Hating Game, Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, and the Peacock miniseries A Friend of the Family. It'll be interesting to see Stowell's take on Gibbs, however, we will still get a taste of the Gibbs we know and love!
Mark Harmon may not appear physically as far as we know, but he will be narrating NCIS: Origins. The series will follow Gibbs as he begins working at Camp Pendleton under his future mentor Mike Franks. The character was played by Muse Watson in the original NCIS series, although we do not yet know who will play the younger version of his character.
NCIS: Origins will also feature another familiar face, who we met in NCIS season 11. Special Agent Vera Strickland was introduced as Franks’s partner and she was portrayed by Roma Maffia. We can’t wait to find out the rest of the cast of characters! Perhaps we will see Ducky and Abby in their younger years as well.
The idea for the show came from Harmon’s son Sean, who portrayed a younger Gibbs on the original series and will be an executive producer on the spinoff.
We’re excited to learn more about the series and who else will be joining. Keep an eye on Hidden Remote for more updates regarding NCIS: Origins.
