New Fox shows 2024: What's coming in the 2024-25 season?
With the May Upfronts finished, we have an idea of what’s coming to TV networks, including Fox! There are some good shows coming as the network spaces out their programming with a few premieres in the fall and then more at midseason.
There are still some series in development that could find a place on the schedule in 2025, but as of now, here are the new shows to expect on Fox for the coming year!
Rescue: HI-Surf
Airdate: Mondays at 9 p.m. ET
Cast: Arielle Kebbel, Robbie Magasiva, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono and Zoe Cipres
Fox seems high on this show, giving it a full-season order before it even premieres. It’s set on the North Shore of O’ahu, aka Hawaii’s Seven Mile Miracle, which is known as one of the most beautiful places on Earth and one of the most dangerous. In the gorgeous local, a squad of lifeguards has to help folks out of the inevitable disasters of near drownings and more.
It looks like a new take on Baywatch with a fun, photogenic cast showing off. Expect plenty of drama abounding, including no doubt some steamy romances. With a spot right behind 911: Lone Star, this is a new take on a classic concept and a show set in Hawaii can be a fantastic rush.
Murder in a Small Town
Airdate: Tuesdays at 9 p.m.
Cast: Rossif Sutherland, Kristin Kreuk, and James Cromwell
This new mystery series is based on the novels by L.R. Wright and stars Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg, a big-city cop burned out after years of tough cases. He decides to take on the job of the police chief for a seemingly idyllic coastal town, just the place to unwind. However, when a murder occurs, Alberg is pushed to help out and soon uncovers the dark underbelly of this “quiet” town.
The show appears to mix one long-range murder case with some side mysteries to keep Karl occupied. Kristin Kreuk plays the local librarian who may become his love interest. The show looks like a fun crime drama of Karl’s expert detective work mixed with a larger mystery. James Cromwell adds his own veteran presence as this can be a great addition to the Fox crime show library.
Universal Basic Guys
Airdate: Sundays 8:30 p.m.
Fox’s Animation Domination Sunday gets a new face with this comedy. Brothers Mark and Hank Hodgies lose their jobs to automation while ending up with $3000 a month via a deal. With free cash and plenty of time on their hands, the pair now have the freedom to “find purpose in a world where they’re no longer needed.”
The series seems to play on some typical Fox animated comedy antics with the pair getting into misadventures and showing how giving two dimwits too much cash and free time can be a bad idea. Sandwiched between some established animation hits, the series has already earned a second-season renewal to beef up Fox’s already impressive animated comedy block.
Doc
Airdate: 2025
Cast: Molly Parker, Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee
Based on an Italian series, this show opens with noted surgeon Dr. Amy Elias (Molly Parker) waking up after a car accident in her own Minneapolis hospital. The accident gives her retrograde amnesia, as she can’t remember anything after 2016. She’s thus rocked to learn her son died and she closed herself off to become a cold woman, leading to the end of her marriage, a new boyfriend she has no memory of meeting, and a hospital staff that hates her.
Trying to reconcile with her now-teenaged daughter, Amy insists on getting back to work, despite her lost knowledge. She uses this “clean slate” as a chance to become a better person and win over her mistrusting staff. It looks like a unique spin on the medical drama with Parker getting a nice star turn as a doctor trying to fix the biggest patient of her life: Herself.
Extracted
Airdate: 2025
Not much is known about this new survival competition show as the tagline only reads, “A groundbreaking new survival competition series, in which, for the first time ever, the contestants are not in charge of their destiny.” Given the title, it’s possible it’s about folks just dropped into some remote area with few resources to try and survive but more details should be forthcoming by its midseason premiere date.
Going Dutch
Airdate: 2025
Cast: Denis Leary
Denis Leary returns to his comedy roots in this new single-camera comedy. He plays a respected U.S. Army Colonel whose 30-year career hits a major snag when he’s caught giving an unfiltered rant on camera. He’s thus busted down to commanding “the least important army base in the world” located in the Netherlands.
Leary has to adjust to a base with no ammo or tactical purpose, boasting a Michelin-star-worthy commissary, spa, and more. He tries to whip the soldiers into ramrod shape only to come into conflict with the base commander…who just happens to be his estranged daughter.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Leary in a purely comedic role but he looks set to have a blast with this. A military comedy can work out well and this could be a surprise when it hits at midseason.
