Night Court season 2 is in session: Release schedule on NBC

After being rated NBC's top comedy in its premiere season, Night Court was renewed for season 2 and is set to release new episodes weekly beginning in January 2024. The show is a reboot of a comedy series of the same name, which aired for nine seasons from 1984 - 1992.

Night Court follows judge Abby Stone, the "daughter of the late Harry Stone, as she follows in her father’s footsteps presiding over the Manhattan arraignment court" for its night shift. Throughout season 1, we watched as she tried to bring order to the Night Court's "crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding". And we can expect even more antics in the upcoming episodes.

Lisa Katz, NBC's President of Scripted Content, said, "It’s so rewarding to have audiences respond and return to a show in which they have such incredibly warm feelings, and, more broadly, it’s testament to how broadcast is still a huge driver of communal viewing." And we're so glad NBC renewed this popular comedy series for another season!

How to watch Night Court's special holiday episode

Not only will fans have brand new episodes to look forward to in the new year, but they're also being treated to a stand-alone holiday episode on NBC. Titled, "A Night Court Before Christmas”, the special stand-alone episode will air on Saturday, Dec. 23 at 8:30 pm on NBC. Fans can also expect to be able to watch this special on Peacock the following day.

NBC teases that in the holiday special, it's Christmastime at Night Court. We'll see Abby enlist Dan on "her quest to track down a little girl’s letter to Santa". Meanwhile, Olivia will be "haunted by a witness who believes herself to be The Ghost of Christmas Present." And we'll see what unfolds when Gurgs’ "gift for Dan isn’t what she expected".

Night Court season 2 release schedule

Night Court season 2 will air weekly on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. on NBC, with each episode becoming available on Peacock the following morning. The first episode of Night Court season 2, titled "The Roz Affair", will premiere Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 8 p.m. on NBC and Wednesday, Jan. 3 on Peacock. New episodes will air throughout the winter and spring television season in 2024.

NBC has not yet released a full schedule of dates and episode titles for Night Court season 2. Because season 1 had 16 episodes, we expect season 2 to have about the same number, though we hope NBC has ordered a larger season for the series.
