If my eagle eyes haven't failed me, it looks like the end of Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 4 will be picked up immediately in episode 5, "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers," considering Annabeth embraces him rather fiercely in the preview. Remember, Percy plunged to his death but survived thanks to Poseidon intervening when he fell from the Arch.

Despite the synopsis--"The quest deepens as Percy, Annabeth, and Grover are tasked with a favor from a fearsome opponent"--it looks like episode 5 is going to be Percabeth centric. We don't see Grover in the preview, it's just Percy and Annabeth making their way into Waterland which looks like it's going to be a harrowing experience for them. It'll also give them an opportunity to deepen their growing bond.

During the Percy Jackson and the Olympians press conference, Walker Scobell shared that the Tunnel of Love scene sets up their relationship for the rest of the series. Adding to his statement, Leah Sava Jeffries said, "you can start to see the chemistry and the [intensity] of how the friendship is building into [the Percabeth dynamic]." So fans of their characters' relationship will have much to look forward to on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 9 p.m. ET.

Episode 5 will also introduce Ares, the god of war who also happens to be Clarisse's father. He's played by wrestling star and actor Adam Copeland (also known as Edge). The fates will be in the episode as well, I wonder how they'll come into play. What I do know is that Sally Jackson has done her best to instill Percy with the knowledge he'd need to survive a quest like this.

Every episode we've been treated to a lesson she taught him and "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers" is no different. Percy talks about the kind of family the gods are, based on what his mother has told him, and it's clear from all that we've seen that they're not a very good one. They hurt one another, play games, manipulate, and the mileage on their protection varies. That's just accepted but Percy isn't the kind of kid who will just take what he's been handed when it's trash so it'll be interesting to see what context his voice over is presented in.
