Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 preview: This isn't just about the Master Bolt
By Sabrina Reed
After the best episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians thus far, episode 6--"We Take a Zebra to Vegas"--has a lot to live up to. At the end of "A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers," Ares put our trio in a truck full of live animals on their way to the Lotus Casino where Hermes is said to be. He wasn't wrong about that because they do come across the god of travelers who is at a game table. Hermes welcomes them but we should all be prepared for a chaotic episode.
From the quick glimpses the preview provides, we can see zoo animals running loose, Percy chasing down a being with ram horns, and our young hero attempting to drive a taxi cab. He also once again winds up in the water, so I'm wondering if he'll be encountering Poseidon or at least one of the sea god's messengers like he did in episode 4, "I Plunge to My Death."
According to the synopsis for episode 6--"Percy, Annabeth, and Grover must resist the alluring draw of a casino that feels outside of time."--the Lotus will prove to be a distraction for the kids. Mayhaps that could be the point. Percy mentions in the preview that this whole situation is about more than the Master Bolt, and it does seem like the gods are taking sides and/or bracing for war.
The first time we saw Hermes, he'd been amused by Percy's impertinence. Mailing Medusa's head to Olympus was quite the move. But the god's amusement doesn't necessarily mean he'll automatically help them. Ares said that "if they play their cards right," they could get Hermes' driver to take them to Los Angeles. The trip would only take a few minutes. There, of course, has to be a catch there. Perhaps he seriously meant they'd have to play Hermes in order to get what they want.
With season 1 winding down, the stakes are growing increasingly higher on Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Catch you on Tuesday, Jan. 16 for episode 6 and make sure to stay tuned to Hidden Remote for recaps and coverage of this amazing series.
