The writing on Friends was absolutely genius. All of the characters had so many funny and sarcastic lines over the 10 seasons of the series. But I think none quite like Chandler Bing! His personality was definitely defined by comedy and jokes, so it's not a surprise that he had some of the best lines on the show. Do you think you can remember them all? Chandler is an interesting character in that he has history with three of his fellow friends in the group: Ross, Monica, and Rachel. Of course he and Ross have been best friends since their college days, and remained close ever since. This allowed for Ross' younger sister Monica and her bestie Rachel to meet Chandler as well. This group of four goes way back, and I like this connection between them all.

It's interesting that during the initial stages of the comedy, it was being considered that Chandler and Phoebe would be side characters and not part of the main ensemble cast and group of friends. Given his history with the characters mentioned above, as well as being Joey's best friend and roommate, I don't really know what the writers were thinking here. But thankfully, they thought better (about Phoebe too!), and it made Friends all the better.

After all, there's many times when Matthew Perry himself came up with his own jokes and improvisations for Chandler. Imagine if he didn't get as much screen time. The character is an important one and plays an integral part in the group overall. I mean, can you imagine if there was no Chandler and Monica either? I don't even want to think about it!
