Modern Family went on for 11 glorious seasons from 2009 to 2020. It's amazing how much story and iconic lines the series brought during that time! So how did you do? Were you able to get 10/10 on the quiz? Overall, Phil is one of my favorite characters - perhaps he might even be my favorite if I'm being honest. I love his constant can-do attitude, how he's committed to his family and Claire, all while having his funny moments as well. And sometimes, as Haley and Alex learned in season 2 episode 22, he can be Mr. Tough Guy when he needs to be. All I can say is, don't mess with Phil. That's evident by one of my favorite Phil lines ever from that episode: "You poked the bear, girls. You poked him."

The delivery was so on point, it still makes me laugh every time I watch this Modern Family scene! When Haley and Alex lie about cleaning the bathroom at home, they attempt to leave in the car. But Phil figures out they didn't actually do what they were supposed to, and puts his foot down. Or actually, runs after them and jumps on the car as they're driving away. He yells the iconic line in anger. What ensues is him putting them to work and getting a spotless bathroom in the process.

Another fun moment from Phil that happens multiple times during the series is his "I've got Gloria!" line. We all know how much he loves Claire. But clearly Phil is also like any other man and is attracted to Gloria. I like that Claire trusts in their relationship so much though that she never doubts his feelings. She knows the comments are harmless. They're unnecessary, but harmless.

The reason Phil is so lovable, I think comes down to Ty Burrell's acting. He brought such a great quality to the character that I really don't think anyone else could have done. Did you know Friends actor Matt LeBlanc was actually offered the role of Phil? But he turned it down seeing as he didn't feel like he could do the character justice. And while I love the Joey Tribbiani actor, I will agree with him there. Burrell is who made Phil special and iconic, and we're so happy we got him!
