Dr. Taylor Hayes is going through it on The Bold and the Beautiful. When she was first re-introduced on the soap, this time played by Rebecca Budig, we all braced for the triangle between her, Ridge Forrester, and Brooke Logan to spark back to life. However, that has yet to happen. Instead, Budig's first major leading storyline centers on Taylor having heart failure.

The plot for this development has just begun to unfold with Taylor disclosing to Dr. Li Finnegan that she's yet to speak to a cardiologist but that her primary care physician has broken the news that she's dying. Now, this could mean that Taylor's being written out of the soap or it could not. What is clear though is that this is about to be an emotional narrative arc for her.

Budig definitely has to chops to pull this off but, I'm not going to lie, part of me does wish we got to see a bit more verbal sparring between the good doctor and her rival-turned friend-turned rival again. They did argue over Hope's decision to kiss Steffy's husband but they've since come to the consensus that it'd be better if they try to be friends, as long as Brooke keeps her daughter in line.

With Taylor sick, the prospective of the soap delving into some nonsense for a fun, humorous moment between the two likely isn't in the cards. While we certainly don't need to see a knockout, drag out fight between the pair, there have been comedic moments in the past that worked. Like the ill-advised, absolutely silly, and immature paint fight between Brooke and Taylor in Eric's foyer.

If you're wondering if Budig would be down for something like this, the answer is yes! The question came up in an interview with Soap Opera Digest when the actress was asked if she'd be into a catfight if Braylor reverted to their past behavior. She said: "Oh, my God, that would be hilarious! I do love a good catfight!”

Now obviously wouldn't be the time but with Budig on board with the idea, maybe we might just see the two frenemies mix it up. Likely over their daughters since Hope and Steffy never seem to be able to stop clashing for long. Or perhaps even over Ridge.

Brooke is confident that she and Ridge are in a good place and their relationship is strong. But Taylor's illness might change that and reawaken feelings he hasn't quite put away. If she makes a miraculous recovery and his heart is torn once again, who's to say how that might affect the story. We'll have to see.
