As rumors swirl about the possibility that 911: Lone Star’s upcoming fifth season may be the last, one of its stars is speaking up about the chances of more to come!

Fans of 911: Lone Star have been waiting patiently for season 5. Like all network shows, its fall 2023 premiere was delayed thanks to the Hollywood strikes. By the time the strikes were done, Fox decided to delay the show until fall of 2024.

The reasons are likely the high budget and extensive production needed for the series. There’s also how the mothership 911 series has migrated to ABC, robbing Lone Star of a key anchor to draw viewers in.

Now, reports are growing that season 5 may be the last for the show. It’s added on by the news that Sierra McClain has left the show, throwing fuel on the fire that Fox may be wanting to cancel it. The fact that the show has a huge budget for the stunt work and the large cast is another factor that adds to the cancellation worries.

So far, neither Fox nor the showrunners have responded, but a couple of actors who play Lone Star’s main power couple have gone on record hoping that the show will continue.

911: Lone Star stars weigh in on the show's future

As reported by TVLine, Rafael Silva, who plays police officer Carlos Reyes, responded to a Deadline story about the possibility of the show being canceled with an Instagram post. “Wherever the ship sails, [I’m] grateful for the family I’ve created on this show.”

Ronen Rubinstein, who plays medic T.K. Strand (Reyes’ on-screen husband), addressed the report more directly in his own Instagram story.

"Nowhere in that article stated a certain fate for our show. But one thing I do know for certain is we will continue pouring our blood, sweat and tears into these last few episodes and deliver to you our most special season yet. I better see all of you in September."

Obviously, the big concern is simply getting season 5 going and the challenge of winning the fans back over after being off the air for over a year. With networks tightening their belts after the strikes, Fox may be wanting to look into fresher (and thus cheaper) fare rather than continuing a more expensive series with rough ratings.

As it stands, the fate of 911: Lone Star remains up in the air and fans are hopeful that this next season won’t be the end of the road. As Rubenstein noted, the procedural is expected to return for its fifth season in September. An exact release date has yet to be announced. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage.
