Shows to watch if you love crime dramas (and where to stream them!)

Many TV viewers are fascinated with crime dramas. This type of series gives the viewer a chance to solve the case before the truth is revealed and gives an inside look at the motivation of the criminals involved. Below is a list of great crime dramas and where you can stream them.
You can never go wrong with series like Breaking Bad, Sopranos, Peaky Blinders, any of the Harlan Coban series, and other shows within the genre that have a huge fan base. But sometimes you want to find a rare gem or something new, we've got that list for you.

Under the Bridge (2024)
Based on the book by Rebecca Godfrey, which is based on a true story, Under the Bridge is a series that follows the sequence of events that led to the death of a teen girl named Reena Virk (Vritika Gupta). Riley Keogh portrays Rebecca Godfrey, a writer who returns to her hometown and finds herself brought into the world of those accused of the gristly murder. Under the Bridge is a series that keeps viewers' attention, as each detail reveals more about the how, why, and who of the murder.

Evil (2019)
The supernatural crime drama Evil originally aired on CBS before moving to Paramount+. This series focuses on the battle between religion and science during the investigation of unexplained mysteries. A priest in training (Mike Colter) joins two skeptics, a forensic scientist (Katja Herbers) and an IT contractor (Aasif Madvi), who are hired by the Catholic Church to examine events of a supernatural nature.
The series does a great job of digging into those hard-to-comprehend questions that pit religion and science against one another. Evil is on its fourth and final season. New episodes release weekly on Thursdays, the series finale will be available to stream on Aug. 22.

Manhunt (2024)
Manhunt is a thriller based on the novel by James L. Swanson, Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer, which tells of the manhunt to track down John Wilkes Booth, the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. Starring Tobias Menzies, Hamish Linklater, Patton Oswalt, Brandon Flynn, and more, the series dramatizes this tragic event in American History. Even though the story is based on known historical events, it unfolds in a way that leaves viewers glued to the screen to see what happens next.

The Killing (2011)
AMC's The Killing is a seriously underrated crime drama that premiered in 2011. Starring Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, The Killing is based on the Danish series Forbrydelsen. The story follows Sarah Linden (Enos), a by-the-book investigator who is tasked with mentoring Stephen Holder (Kinnaman), a detective who formerly worked in narcotics and has a more free-spirited approach to his work. Set in Seattle, the duo, who each bring their own unique style to the investigations, find a way to work together to bring criminals to justice.

Boy Swallows Universe (2024)
The limited Netflix series Boy Swallows Universe is an excellent eight-part series that is a change of pace in the crime drama genre. This coming-of-age story is based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Trent Dalton. Set in 1980s Brisbane, Australia, the story follows Eli (Felix Cameron), a young boy who, along with his mute older brother Gus (Lee Tiger Halley), becomes involved with the criminal underworld in Brisbane to save their mother. The series also stars Travis Fimmel, Phoebe Tonkin, Sophie Wilde, Bryan Brown, Simon Baker, and Anthony LaPaglia.

Eric (2024)
The latest project starring Benedict Cumberbatch is the highly acclaimed psychological thriller Eric. The series follows the tragic disappearance of puppeteer Vincent Anderson's (Cumberbatch) son Edgar (Ivan Morris Howe). Vincent's already rocky marriage is further complicated by the emotions the couple experience with the uncertainty of their son's fate. This leads Vincent on a downward spiral where he first turns to drugs and then becomes convinced he can bring his son home with the help of a giant puppet, Eric. Also starring Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler, Roberta Colindrez, and Jeff Hephner.

The Law According to Lidia Poët (2023)
The Law According to Lidia Poët is an Italian crime drama inspired by the true story of Lidia
Poët, the first female lawyer in Italy. This isn't your average crime drama, as this one is set in 1883. Lidia (Matilda De Angelis) is disbarred when the chauvinistic appellate court rules that her enrollment in law school is illegal.
Lidia sets out to appeal the decision while working for her brother Enrico (Pierluigi Pasino), a successful lawyer. She works diligently to discover the truths behind the murder cases brought to her brother's law practice while fighting for her right to practice law. The series also stars Eduardo Scarpetta, Sinéad Thornhill, Sara Lazzaro, and Dario Aita. The series has been renewed for a second season.
