Shows to watch if you want a weekend binge watch (and where to stream them!)
We all love to binge-watch a good series. However, it can be difficult to pick just one from the vast catalog of online shows at our disposal. Sometimes we can spend a whole weekend thinking about what to watch rather than actually playing something. So to prevent that from happening, we came up with the perfect solution.
We've gathered some of the best shows for a weekend binge-watch that range from comedy all the way to horror. That way, there's a perfect fit for everyone. And if any of them catch your eye, we'll leave a link to where to stream them. Who knows? Perhaps your new favorite series is just one click away! So without further ado, let's dive right into the list.
The Office
Considering The Office was streamed for 57 billion minutes during the COVID-19 pandemic, we need to ask the question: Is there anyone who hasn't watched the hit television series yet? The day-to-day activities of Dunder Mifflin Scranton are as funny as addictive to witness. Since almost all episodes are twenty minutes long, it's easy to binge one after another while losing track of time and.. oh, look, it's way past midnight already.
Not only will Michael Scott make you laugh and roll your eyes more times than you can count, but Jim's and Pam's will-they-won't-they relationship will keep you engaged through the course of multiple seasons. Besides there are many storylines that will catch first-time viewers off guard, making them think "Wait, is this really happening?". You'll laugh, cry, and wish you could visit Michael, Dwight, Jim, Pam, and the rest of the crew at least for one day.
If you have yet to watch The Office, then it would be wise to make it your priority this weekend. And in case you have already watched all of its nine seasons, then a rewatch won't hurt whatsoever. All episodes of The Office are available in Peacock.
Suits
If you want a long legal drama to binge-watch, then Suits should be your go-to option. Mike Ross and Harvey Specter got into more trouble than we can count throughout the series. With ghosts of their past haunting them (especially in the case of Mike), the pair of protagonists are never really safe from legal problems. Audiences won't have a chance to catch their breaths, as new lawsuits, antagonists, and blackmails occur season after season. But that's one of the reasons why Suits is so addicting and perfect for binge-watching; we love its main characters so much that we want to see if they'll be fine.
Not everything is grim, however, as there are also touches of comedy scattered throughout the series. Besides, it has romances that you'll root for and others that'll make you roll your eyes. You know, it's the perfect balance. But above anything else; the series has a charming set of characters that will keep you engaged season after season. So be sure to stream Suits on Netflix, Prime Video, or Peacock.
How I Met Your Mother
For most people, it would take around 10 minutes tops to tell the story about how they met their partner. Fortunately, that's not the case for Ted Mosby (architect) as he told that tale to his kids across nine whole seasons. That's not a complaint, though, as each one of them is a real pleasure to watch.
Ted, Robin, Barney, Lily, and, Marshall are a lovable set of characters that just can't stop making bad decisions. However, they make for really entertaining episodes that are addicting to binge one after another. Best of all; you'll be guessing who the real mother really is at all times. And just when you think you've figured it out, a big plot twist will come out of nowhere to prove you wrong. Granted, the series could feel a little repetitive toward the end, and its finale is less than stellar to put it lightly. However, the rest of the episodes are nothing short of lengend - wait for it - dary! Legendary.
How I Met Your Mother is available to stream on Netflix and Hulu.
Black Mirror
There are many amazing anthology series out there, but one of the best is Black Mirror without a doubt. The beauty of binge-watching this Netflix project is that you never know what crazy technology concept will be tackled next. The only certain thing is that you'll be in for an amazing ride that'll leave you wanting more.
There are a few seasons here and there in Black Mirror that are not up to the same level of quality as the rest of the show. However, the best part is that you can skip those that aren't as mind-blowing and go straight to the fun part. Every story is about the extreme lengths to which technology can go both for the good and the horrible, and they all have unique and creative concepts behind them. There are many genres across the series' episodes, so you'll never get bored while making a binge-watch.
You can watch all six seasons of Black Mirror on Netflix.
Ted Lasso
Talk about a wholesome show. If you want to watch a series that'll give you an ear-to-ear smile throughout its entire run, then Ted Lasso is perfect for you. The story follows its eponymous character as he becomes the coach of a soccer team that everyone sees as a complete failure - including the owner. However, a positive attitude, inspiring speeches, and a little bit of hope could be everything that the team needs to turn their luck around.
Ted Lasso's overflowing positivity is so contagious chances are you'll catch some of it too. Even if some episodes are almost 60 minutes long, they are so entertaining it seems like they end in a heartbeat. Audiences won't be able to help but root for the soccer team's success, which makes it easier to binge the series altogether. Besides, it's entertaining to see how cold and stoic characters finally open up thanks to Ted's charm. All in all, this series is perfect for a weekend binge-watch.
Ted Lasso is available to stream on Apple TV+.
The Mandalorian
In a time were the Disney Star Wars projects had mixed receptions and raised multiple eyebrows, this television series reminded us why we love the property in the first place. While the third season of The Mandalorian isn't as polished as its predecessors, this galactic adventure will surely win over your heart. Din and Grogu are now some of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars universe, and with good reason.
The series has big action set pieces worthy of being in a blockbuster movie, and special effects are so good you'll rarely notice them. Every planet featured is brought to life with an immaculate level of attention and, of course, there are also awesome cameos that will make you jump out of your seat in excitement. Some episodes feature isolated stories that can be enjoyed without any knowledge of the broader Star Wars universe. However, every season has an overarching narrative that features big characters from other projects. As a result, both newcomers and long-time fans of the franchise can enjoy this project all the same.
It's easy to binge-watch The Mandalorian when the series has it all. It contains thrill-inducing moments, a few heartbreaking sequences that'll make you tear up, adorable scenes of Grogu that will make up for the sadness, and unforgettable stories that will leave you wanting to watch just one more episode.
The Mandalorian is available to stream on Disney+.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Surely a television series centered around a police precinct is very serious, right? Well, that can be the case with Brooklyn Nine-Nine as it often shines the spotlight on sensitive topics that are worth discussing. But more often than not you'll find yourself laughing non-stop with Captain Ray Holt, Jake Peralta, Charles Boy, Amy Santiago, and the rest of the characters in the precinct.
Unlike many other sitcoms, Brooklyn Nine-Nine never drops its quality during its eight season run. But just like other sitcoms, it has love stories that'll keep you engaged, characters that will steal your heart, and many sub-plots that shake things up big time on certain occasions. Its titular character, Jake Peralta, is just as great at cracking jokes as solving cases involving serial killers. As a result, the series is a mix of action, comedy, drama, and much more. Best of all; it's just one click away from becoming your new favorite sitcom.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is available to stream on Netflix and Peacock.
Fallout
The apocalypse never looked better.
There's a reason why Fallout is the second most-watched series on Prime Video behind The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It's filled with action, horrific mutated creatures, and three main characters with a lot of charm (some in a very violent way). The mystery behind who or what caused the end of the world will make you want to binge every episode until you find some much-needed answers. Add to that a great production that makes a devastator feel realistic and - weirdly enough - alive, and it's easy to get lost in this awesome show.
While many doubted Fallout could do justice to the amazing video game franchise it's based on, the series did that and more. Now that a second season is officially in the works, it is the perfect time to binge-watch the first eight episodes available! So head over to Prime Video and discover just how horrible this post-apocalyptic world truly is.
The Haunting of Hill House
Are you ready for something horrifying? This beloved series took the world by storm when it premiered on Netflix back in 2018. It's the result of a perfect mix of horror and mystery that hooks you from the very first episode and never lets go. The performances from the cast are all astounding and bring to life a hauntingly brilliant script that's filled with many twists and turns.
On the surface, The Haunting of Hill House appears to be simply about ghosts and scares (which, don't get me wrong, are definitely here). However, it's also a personal story about a broken family and how they overcome problems from the past. So not only does the series have a lot of points for its spooky style, but also for the substance behind it.
Even if you're too scared to keep watching, it will be impossible to put this series down. The Haunting of Hill House is available for streaming on Netflix.
