Could The Bold and the Beautiful be taking a dark turn? Steffy told Sheila that she'd like to see her six feet under. Now that's not to say she's about to add 'murderer' to her list of titles but it's clearly the trauma of what Sheila did to her and Finn is causing Steffy to wish for the woman's demise.
But here's the rub, Steffy's the one who is in the wrong this time and, before Sheila pulled the trigger the night, she was in the wrong when she confronted her nemesis in Il Giardino's alley. Sheila made some excellent points. Steffy came banging on her door, she lodged threats, she attacked her, she verbally accosted her, and she wouldn't leave even after she was told to.
Sheila had explained the situation with Kelly. The child walked into her workplace and all she did was say hello to her. She didn't do anything to scare her, and she didn't harass her. In fact, when Steffy found her, Sheila was in her apartment, relaxing on the couch because she was no longer needed in the restaurant. That, however, is what set Steffy off.
She doesn't want Sheila to be doing her nails and reading magazines. What she wants is for her to be gone entirely from her life, and she can't get her to leave town no matter what she does. No amount of telling her nemesis that Finn doesn't want her around and that he despises her is getting Sheila to skedaddle, and it won't. Sheila has a life in Los Angeles. She's found love, and she knows that Finn hasn't written her off completely so she's not going anywhere. Though Sheila bringing up that she has other kids did make my ears perk up. Perhaps she was meeting one of them when she went to speak to someone during work hours, but I digress.
Sheila launched herself at Steffy after being emotionally pushed one too many times and the two tussled. It took Deacon and Finn busting in to break them up. Deacon had been looking for Sheila since he got back from the errand he ran, but she was nowhere to be found. For the sake of the plot he didn't go see if she was home until he was told by the waiter who came on shift that Steffy had been looking for her.
This alarmed both him and Finn. The latter had ran over from the hospital after he got a call from Lucy telling him that Steffy had her make a speedy exit from Il Giardino with kids without explaining what was going on. So it definitely didn't help that he saw his birth mom choking his wife. It was obvious, however, he didn't know what to believe about the incident since Sheila told him that Steffy told her she wanted her dead.
Once again Sheila made great points about how all she wants is to be left alone to live her life. She has stayed away from them since she saved Kelly's life. She hasn't bothered them at all, and it was Steffy who carried herself over to her apartment. She's been minding her business.
Sheila pleaded for Finn to say it wasn't true, that he doesn't feel the same as Steffy, but we didn't get to hear his answer this episode. Not that we need to honestly. Of course he doesn't want his biological mother dead, and it clearly hurt and shocked him to hear that Steffy wanted her demise. In her pain, paranoia, and fear, Steffy hasn't considered how Finn feels about any of this. She's just been insistent that her husband is on the same page as her but when it comes to Sheila dying, they certainly aren't.
One person who wouldn't be taken aback by Steffy's feelings is Liam. He got to open up to his father, Bill, today when they ran into each other at Forrester Creations. Bill catching Liam gazing at a press release with Steffy's picture on it led to a cute father-son scene where Bill teased him for his stuttering when he got caught. Apparently, Liam looks at Steffy the way his father looks at money.
Liam has been stressing because Steffy is. She can't settle. When the kids are away from her she worries immensely. She texts him on back when he and Kelly are out just to make sure everything is okay. And he can't help her the way he wants because she's married to Finn. He's still of the mind that as long as Steffy remains tied to the good doctor, she's going to be dealing with Sheila and the danger that comes with that.
My issue is that if Steffy can't reconcile with the fact that Sheila's family is hers as well, she's never going to know peace. She shares a child with Finn. That's never going to change. Liam's overlooking that bit. Short of Hayes turning out to be Liam's in a plot twist, there's no real way to untangle her from her nemesis even if she divorces Finn. That's just the truth.
But, nonetheless, Liam is firmly planting his flag on Steffy's side. He hasn't give up on the idea of the two of them reuniting, and we got the flashbacks to prove it. Steam's history is deep and, as a shipper, I'd love to see the pair of best friends make their way back to each other. But if that is where the soap is going, after we deal with what may be the beginnings of a dark period for Steffy, I'm going to need it to be an actual love story.
See you in the next recap, Bold fans!
