Strictly spoilers and results 2024: Who is leaving on Strictly Come Dancing Week 2?
Somehow, someway, it's time for another series of Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC's flagship entertainment show has returned to screens this month for a very special series, as this one marks its 20th anniversary. Yes, we've been watching some of our favorite Foxtrots, wonderful Waltzes, and sizzling Salsas for two decades now, and we get to do it all again with this year's crop of contestants.
Can it live up to the excitement of last year's excellent series? Quite possibly! Over the course of the past two weeks, we have met the class of 2024, finding out who they were going to be partnered with on the opening show and watching them all deliver their first dance routines last week. On that night, it was JLS' JB and Amy, Tasha and Aljaž, and Sarah and Vito who impressed the most with three epic routines that had the judges raving about their technique and performance value. But the question is: Could they carry that standard over to Week 2?
Yes, just like we've come to expect from Strictly Come Dancing, nobody went home on Week 1 so the scores from that were combined with Week 2. How did it shake up the Leaderboard? Let's find out!
Here are the Strictly spoilers, results, and scores from the Week 2 Saturday night show.
Strictly spoilers and results: Week 2 Leaderboard
What a night Week 2 turned out to be for Strictly. The scores were carried over from the previous week's dancing, which of course turned out to be an advantage for some but a disadvantage for others. Some new contestants came to the forefront to surprise us, while others struggled more than expected this week.
Tasha and Aljaž surged away to the top of the Leaderboard with an emotional Viennese Waltz, while Sarah and Vito closed the show with an exclamation point with a powerful Paso Doble that had the audience on their feet. Wynne and Katya also impressed with a technically strong and understated Viennese Waltz, and Montel and Johannes brought the house down with a sizzling Samba, while Chris and Dianne and Jamie and Michelle delivered performances that had the internet talking. Other contestants such as Tom and Nadiya, and Sam and Nikita showed promised that they are hoping will carry them through to next week.
Here are the results from the Strictly Week 2 Saturday night show, the scores, and the Leaderboard we were left with:
- Tasha and Aljaž - 35 (+30) = 65
- Sarah and Vito - 32 (+30) = 62
- JB and Amy - 27 (+31) = 58
- Montel and Johannes - 30 (+26) = 56
- Wynne and Katya - 30 (+26) = 56
- Shayne and Nancy - 31 (+21) = 52
- Chris and Dianne - 29 (+23) = 52
- Jamie and Michelle - 27 (+23) = 50
- Sam and Nikita - 22 (+23) = 45
- Tom and Nadiya - 20 (+23) = 43
- Nick and Luba - 21 (+18) = 39
- Pete and Jowita - 22 (+17) = 39
- Dr. Punam Krishan and Gorka Márquez -18 (+19) = 37
- Paul Merson and Karen Hauer - 15 (+17) = 32
- Toyah and Neil - 18 (+12) = 30
Who is in danger on Strictly Come Dancing Week 2?
The first few weeks of the competition are always interesting because they have changed quite a bit over the past few years. In the past, it would almost always be the couples in the bottom two/three of the Leaderboard that would find themselves in the dreaded Dance-Off, but if those couples often provide us with entertainment (or have a large public fanbase), they can escape from it. Could that happen this week? Here's what we know.
Toyah Wilcox bounced back with a much stronger performance this week, but the carried over score from last week still has her at the bottom of the Leaderboard. But Toyah is well-known and beloved, so that might help her escape. The same could be said for Paul Merson, who had the lowest-scoring dance of the night, but sportsmen have proven popular in the past even when their dancing isn't the strongest; he's also extremely funny.
Nick and Luba, Punam and Gorka, and Pete and Jowita are also in a vulnerable spot close to the bottom, so it will be up to strong public votes to save them. And we wouldn't rule out a surprising Dance-Off contestant from the lower end of the middle of the Leaderboard either (although it is a bit early for that to happen), especially as there are multiple ties on the Leaderboard, which often favors one of the tied couples over the other.
Taking that into account, we're predicting a Dance-Off between two of Toyah, Paul, Pete, Punam, and Nick.
The Strictly Come Dancing Sunday Night Results Show will air on BBC One on Sunday, September 29, at 7:15 p.m. BST.
