SWAT season 7, episode 3: The team is back
After a season premiere that saw Hondo, Hicks, and Powell taking the focus, the third episode of the final season came in swinging and had everyone back together. Well, almost everyone, as we were missing two key players. Plus, Nichelle had an issue at work that put her job at jeopardy.
In this week’s case, the team was tasked with figuring out why a group of men who were part of the Japanese Yami-Yami crime family targeted a young woman who was out with her boyfriend. They would soon learn that she was part of a program that would give people new identities, like the U.S. witness protection program.
The men had discovered her whereabouts after her boyfriend innocently posted a photo online. They were after a man named Timoki Kaito, who had been an enforcer. He had left after going against orders to kill a pregnant woman who was a witness to a crime.
When the men discovered the woman, Nami, and her son, Sogo, Timoki turned himself to save them. Despite the men double-crossing him, the team was able to rescue them while also bringing Timoki in as a witness and to face justice for his criminal past.
The episode also found Nichelle in trouble after she was accused of accepting a bribe from a corrupt company so they could obtain a contract from the city. So distraught over the fact that she signed off on it, she almost missed the date on the contract itself. Hondo reminded her that she wasn’t at work on account of it was their daughter’s christening and the day he proposed.
She figured out who actually did it and saved her job. Luckily, things worked out for her since she has such joy and passion for her work.
We also learned where Street and Luca are since we know that actors Alex Russo and Kenny Johnson were dropped from series regulars to recurring. Street was in Long Beach for SWAT training while Luca was in London.
When SWAT returns on Friday, March 8, it will have two episodes instead of one. We’re looking forward to finding out what will happen next!
Make sure to watch SWAT on CBS at 8/7c on Fridays. Catch up the next day on Paramount+.
