SWAT bid farewell to Kenny Johnson’s Dominique Luca in an episode that left fans feeling nervous. The episode also saw the team tackling the investigation into who shot him that fateful day. Let’s go over what happened in SWAT season 7, episode 7, "Last Call."

Despite the promo of the episode making it appear that Luca did not survive the shooting, it turned out that he did live. Once the team knew he was out of the woods and would survive thanks to the doctors, they focused on the hunt for the robbers who shot him. Even though they found the getaway driver, he refused to rat out the others.

Weeks after the shooting, Luca came to visit the team. He was working on his physical therapy, but he needed to find out from the doctors when he could come back to work. Unfortunately, Luca got bad news. His arm was permanently damaged in the shooting, so now he won’t be able to be part of SWAT anymore.

It’s a devastating blow for Luca, as his entire family was involved with SWAT. As much as it pains him not to be a part of the team, he was given a full retirement send-off, led by Hondo as the team leader praised Luca for his work.

The episode continued with the case since they were about to get a lead from the getaway driver. However, he was murdered before he could talk to the team. They discovered that the killer had a connection to a dancer, who admitted the night guard at the club ordered the victim to be killed.

She was offered money to help with her son in exchange for her boyfriend killing him. She eventually admitted that the person in question was the guard SWAT had just seen.

Rocco the guard was involved with the robbery and had been in contact with two other men named Jerry and Hank. The team found Jerry, but he had been killed since he had hidden the necklace and the others involved wanted it. Now all they needed to do was get the last man, who was the one that shot Luca. They knew he was after the necklace in the robbery, which was left in Jerry’s cousin’s hotel where she worked.

Luckily, despite the robbery crew getting into the hotel, the SWAT team was able to arrest the men involved, including Hank. He had tried to escape by assaulting Hondo, but the latter eventually won.

We also got hints that Deacon would probably not retire anytime soon. In the wake of the shooting, he didn’t want to leave the team short-handed. However, Commander Hicks reminded him not to take too long making a decision, otherwise, he would upset his marriage, and his team wouldn’t trust him.

It could be that Deacon will eventually decide to retire. However, if he does stay with SWAT, what sort of arrangement with Annie could make this work? This is an arc we’re looking forward to seeing play out as the series comes to an end.
