The Conners is on tonight but not at its usual time on ABC!

ABC boldly changed The Conners' 8:30 PM EST slot to a new one. Don't worry! The Conners are still in tonight's schedule block, so there's no need to reset your daily calendar. However, if you're anything like me who doesn't enjoy sudden changes such as show shifting, then I understand. Unfortunately, it's annoying and a hassle, but one we can't control.

Beginning tonight (May 1st), The Conners will air an hour later at 9:30 PM EST and remain there for the 2023-2024 season. There are only four episodes left of season 6, with a shorter installment of 13 this year. With season seven not officially confirmed yet, fans' concerns are rising if the beloved comedy has been cancelled silently by the network.

If season 6 will be the last time we'll see of The Conners and their family-themed narratives, the show's producers have smartly crafted the season finale like a series wrap-up. Like many of the shows that met their early and unwanted demises, the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes played a crucial part, along with budget constraints. However, executive producer Bruce Helford mentioned in May 2023 per TVLine that season 6 could possibly be the end following season 5's finale.

"Sara Gilbert expressed to the [ABC] network that we don’t want to go out without knowing that we are going out with a series finale so we can build to the right ending. At this point in time, we feel that [season six] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners."

We hate to lose another great show that depicts strong family values with a sardonic twist, thanks to the comedic deliverances of John Goodman and Sara Gilbert. Their secret formula works and is one of the reasons for The Conners reigning success. So, why stop now when that formula's still brewing and it's a ratings hit?

Why The Conners has a new time change

ABC made the time change from 8:30 PM EST to 9:30 PM EST for a couple of reasons. The first one is the game show Jeopardy! Masters will take over the 8-9 PM EST hour block, pushing The Conners to its a later time. Abbott Elementary will still air at 9:00 PM EST, so the two sitcoms are back-to-back.

For the second reason, ABC thought it would be a good idea to air the comedies together, seeing how the Gina Rodriguez comedy Not Dead Yet aired its season two finale on April 24. At the time of this writing, Not Dead Yet has yet to be renewed (or denied) for a third season.

The Conners will air their season 6 and possibly series finale on May. The episode's title is called, "Less Money, More Problems." Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more TV news and coverage!
