The Good Doctor season 7 premiere is just around the corner, and eyes are on what to expect. The most recent news is great foo fans of a specific returning doctor.
Yes, it’s all about Dr. Jared Kalu. Chuku Modu has been upped to series regular for the seventh season, coming off the back of his recurring guest role in season 6.
This comes off the back of learning that the show will be one series regular down. Hill Harper is out, something that many suspected for some time. After all, he’s running for senator, and it’s going to be pretty difficult to manage the senate run and acting in Vancouver, Canada!
What to expect for Jared in The Good Doctor season 7
TVLine shared the exciting news for Jared fans, but didn’t go into many details. We can take a guess at the storyline we’ll see.
Jared was one of the OG cast members, working under Dr. Melendez with Shaun and Claire in the first season. He was fired at the end of the first season after he assaulted a doctor who had been harassing Claire. He went to Denver to do his residency (off-screen) and then returned in season 6 with a life update.
He dropped out of his residency for a bigger and brighter job. He decided to become a concierge doctor, but we learned in season 6 that he regretted that choice and he got the offer to return to St. Bonventure to continue his residency there.
Fans did wonder if he would manage to work under Shaun, someone who had originally been his peer. Would we learn that he couldn’t hack it, leading to him leaving at some point in The Good Doctor season 7? Well, it looks like he’s going to push through, and that means some exciting storylines as he realizes what some of his decisions in life and in his career have led to.
The Good Doctor season 7 premieres on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10/9c on ABC. Catch up on the series on Hulu.
