The Rookie won't be returning with its seventh season until 2025 but because filming is already underway for the show, news has continued to pour in about the procedural. For instance, it's returning to form with a full order of episodes and there are two new recruits set to make their debut--Miles and Seth, played by Deric Augustine and Patrick Keleher. These developments for the show, however, have also come with cast exit news.

TVLine reports Tru Valentino won't be returning as a series regular for season 7. He made his first appearance as Aaron Thorsen back in season 4 and has since become a part of the Mid-Wilshire Division's work family. There's yet to be word on how Valentino will be written out of the show. The Rookie doesn't have a high cast turnover rate. The last departure was Titus Makin Jr. ahead of the season 4 premiere, his character Officer Jackson West passed away after the events that unfolded in the season 3 finale.

Valentino's exit explains his absence during the cast's appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this year where they met fans and had a panel. As production continues we may learn more about the sergeant's coming departure and will certainly find out more on what to expect from the new season.

We left off with Monica Stevens at large. The unit and the FBI were working closely together after the notorious woman abducted Dr. Blair London. With her in the wind, that leaves the writers the opportunity to bring her back in exciting fashion. There's also Oscar and Bailey's abusive ex-husband Jason to contend with as the two men have broken out of prison. The latter is ready to bring mayhem and chaos to Nolan and Bailey's lives which would be inopportune at any point but especially as they go on their adoption journey.

Chenford are on the top of shippers' minds as the two had a surprising break-up that fans are hoping gets rectified in season 7. Steps seemed to be taken for the two to heal from Tim's choices particularly after that elevator scene but the pair may still have a long road to go. Sorting through trauma and how one reacts to it isn't exactly linear and neither is mending a broken heart and trying again.

As for footage of the new season, ABC has shared a recap of the first six season of The Rookie along with glimpses of what's to come. Check out the video below!
