The Rookie left a pretty nice cliffhanger mystery in the season 6 finale, which will keep us formulating theories until the midseason premiere of season 7. The cliffhangers included tracking down LA's Most Wanted criminal, Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan). They failed to capture her, even with the help of the FBI, and Oscar (Matthew Glave) and Jason (Steve Kazee) broke out of prison with Monica's assistance.

On a softer note, Officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and his new wife Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) are planning a family and are looking into adoption. Before the couple can take the next step, Nolan must solve the two cliffhangers before they inflict danger on citizens and the city.

Season 7 could offer satisfying conclusions to these issues, among many others that will arise. Taking Monica and the prisoners into custody will be a difficult assignment, but I have faith that Officer Nolan and his team will complete the job as quickly and cleanly as possible.

Then, there's possibly a third cliffhanger--the future of Chenford and where they're headed next in terms of their relationship.

Now, I'll be honest: I don't invest entirely in the shipping respect, as you'll never know what's going to happen, but you hope for the best outcome. I take it as it comes and whateverhappens, happens, even if it's painful. But Tim (Eric Winter) and Lucy (Melissa O'Neill) had an amazing thing going on, and here's to hoping that they'll move past the bitterness and get back together.

In April, ABC renewed The Rookie, much to our relief, crushing any cancelation rumors. The full order will consist of 18 episodes running back-to-back with no breaks. That way fans can become more absorbed in the storytelling and not try to fight to recall what happened in the previous episode. With so much happening in the characters' lives on duty and off, you don't want to miss out on anything.

And what's relieving, too, is that at least the cliffhangers will be untangled, when many canceled shows this year wound up having cliffhangers in their series finales, leaving the fans confused and curious as they didn't receive a proper ending.

When does filming start for The Rookie season 7?

Even though season 7 is a long way off, the show will be filming early and getting a head start on solving the plots mentioned. Additionally, we'll see what happens to our favorite characters and whether we'll get another The Rookie: The Feds crossover as we did in the finale.

Per TVLine, The Rookie creator and executive producer Alexi Hawley shared with reporter Matt Webb Mitovich regarding the show's filming status, with Mitovich quoting the following:

"Even though the ABC procedural [The Rookie] won't be returning with Season 7 until the year 2025 [in midseason], "Early June, we get right back into it," [Hawley} told me."

The Rookie is filmed all around Los Angeles and at various hot spots, including Hollywood Boulevard, Paramount Studios, and the Griffith Observatory. Stay tuned to Hidden Remote for more news and coverage!
