The Sympathizer is HBO's latest original series, set to premiere on Sunday, April 14, at 9 p.m. ET. When it comes to original content, HBO always only offers the best when it comes to quality. HBO's The Sympathizer is a limited series, which means that there will only be one season, which will consist of seven episodes. The spy-thriller features an all-star cast that includes Hoa Xuande, Fred Nguyen Khan, Sandra Oh, Robert Downey Jr., and others.
What's the most interesting about the cast (and what I look forward to the most) is that Robert Downey Jr. will take on multiple roles, once again proving why he is one of the best actors today.

The series is based on Viet Thanh Nguyen's novel of the same name, which was partially inspired by North Vietnamese spy Pham Xuan An. However, The Sympathizer is not a true story. Audiences follow the story of Captain (Hoa Xuande), a spy forced to flee to the United States to live as a refugee in Los Angeles after a mission goes sideways.
There, as Captain is getting used to now living in Los Angeles, he learns that his days as a spy are, sadly, not over. Captain struggles with staying loyal to his team and the new people in his life.
The Sympathizer episode schedule and times
Please note that the below schedule is not official. What we have put together is based on the fact that The Sympathizer will include seven episodes that will be released weekly. That said, the series premieres on Sunday, April 14, and concludes on Sunday, May 26.

All of these episodes will air on HBO at 9 p.m. on the noted dates, but they will also become available to stream on HBO's streaming platform, Max, at the same time. This gives you the option to watch on the streamer if you don't have access to the HBO network. Or, if you're not able to watch new episodes on that Sunday night, they'll be waiting for you on Max.
