After being on the bubble for a couple of years, 911 fans deserve the good news that we now have. Yes, 911 Season 8 is officially a go.

There’s no doubt that we were concerned over the last two years. The delayed renewals came due to various issues including studio decisions. In fact, the series was technically canceled last year. ABC stepped in before the news broke, as there were decisions behind the scenes due to production studios and the decision that this series needed a much bigger budget than Fox could offer.

Well, ABC made the right call. The show has ticked up in the linear ratings week after week, just three episodes into the new series. With the most recent episode matching the total audience for the Season 4 finale, it was a no-brainer for ABC to renew the series.

911 Season 8 is likely to premiere in fall 2024

TVLine brought fans the excellent news of the renewal. When it comes to the total audience, the first responder drama is the top show. When it comes to the demo, it’s only trailing three reality shows, The Bachelor, The Golden Bachelor, and Dancing with the Stars.

911 and The Bachelor will even get a crossover episode as 911 celebrates 100 episodes! You can get all the details about that here.

As for 911 Season 8, we’re looking at fall 2024 as a premiere date. The only reason the series was held for the midseason was due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike action during the summer of 2023. Had that not happened, we’re sure that 911 would have led the TGIT lineup in the fall. So, we’re expecting ABC to get things back to normal in fall 2024.

We’re also sure to see the series remain on Thursday nights. Why fix something that clearly isn’t broken? ABC made some excellent choices with the schedule for this series.

Who could return to the first-responder drama?

As of right now, TVLine hasn’t been able to confirm if any or all cast members are going to return. We can certainly see the majority of the cast being back. There is no way this show would be the success it is without Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Aisha Hinds, Oliver Stark, and Kenneth Choi being part of it from the very beginning.

There are no signs that any of them are leaving just yet. We also have no signs that Ryan Guzman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, or Gavin McHugh will leave just yet.

Of course, we’re only three episodes in. You just never know how things will play out by the end of the season. As Hinds shared with Hidden Remote, you can’t “expect” anything with this series.
