This Is Us' Susan Kelechi Watson joins the cast of Will Trent season 2 in a key role
This Is Us fans will get a dose of a beloved actress on the ABC series Will Trent for season two. Susan Kelechi Watson, who played Beth Pearson on the NBC series for six seasons, is set to once again grace our screens. So what is the key role she will be portraying?
Will Trent follows the titular special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who is able to use his own unique point of view in order to solve cases. It’s a procedural based off of a book series by Karin Slaughter. The show focuses on Trent’s desire to ensure no one experiences the feelings of abandonment he felt growing up in the foster care system.
When Will Trent premieres on Feb. 20, we will meet a bomb expert named Cricket (Watson), who is described as not only skilled at her job, but also capable of helping others stay calm, especially during high-stakes events.
The episode titled “Me Llamo Will Trent,” will deal with a car bomb, during which Cricket investigates alongside Ramón Rodríguez’s Trent. Per the synopsis, “A car bomb ignites an investigation for Will and bomb expert Cricket, revealing more than meets the eye; Angie battles to return to work; Ormewood's home life gets complicated; Faith develops her relationship with Luke.”
In the season 2 trailer, it looks like sparks are flying between Trent and Cricket and we don't mean the actual bomb in the case! Will anything actually happen between these two? Only time will tell!
Watson will be joining a former This Is Us cast mate on the series. Iantha Richardson, who plays Faith, portrayed Beth’s daughter as an adult during flash-forward installments of This Is Us. Will Trent will premiere on ABC on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 8/7c. It will also be available on Hulu.
