NCIS fans have gotten used to saying goodbye to beloved characters over the years, but tonight's new episode of CBS's hit drama is going to be unlike anything we've witnessed before as the show celebrates the life of a beloved member of the NCIS family: David McCallum.

Since the very beginning of the show, McCallum has been an integral part of NCIS's DNA playing medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard. While Ducky's role on the show evolved as the seasons rolled on and recent seasons saw him taking a back seat, the love fans had for the character never wavered.

When you watch a show for as many years as NCIS fans such as myself have, these characters become like family as you invest in their lives and enjoy catching up with them once a week during the course of the season. Many fans, myself included, have spent over 20 years with NCIS. We've known them longer than we've known many people in our real lives and these characters have become like dear friends we deeply care for.

It's for that reason, that tonight's new episode is going to be perhaps one of the most difficult episodes to watch ever as the show says goodbye to Ducky and celebrates the life of David McCallum, who passed away last September.

How to watch NCIS tonight on CBS (February 19, 2024)

The second episode of season 21, "The Stories We Leave Behind," airing this Monday night will see the NCIS family mourning the loss of Ducky as the show itself pays tribute to the late actor. The episode is one fans won't want to miss and we highly recommend watching live so that you can experience the episode alongside fellow fans and partake in the celebration of Ducky with fellow fans.

Tonight's new episode will begin at 9/8c on CBS and will be the standard hour-long episode, which was to be expected but is slightly disappointing as we'd have loved to have seen an extended episode in this one case. The episode will find the team working one last case with Ducky as they aim to close teh unfinished case of their former colleague and process the loss of their friend.

The episode can be watched live via your local CBS affiliate as well as through streaming plans that include live TV including Hulu+ Live TV, fuboTV, and Paramount+ Live. You'll then be able to stream the episode on Paramount+ beginning on Tuesday, February 20 with any tier of Paramount+ account.

Don't miss tonight's new NCIS as it airs beginning at 9 p.m. ET on CBS!
