Tucker and Audra's break creates a dangerous opportunity on Young and the Restless
By Sean OBrien
Tucker believed he shut Audra down on The Young and the Restless, but as he, Nate, Sally, and the audience know, Audra shares dark side traits with her mentor.
As fans learned, Tucker took Audra under his soapy wing while both characters were off screen. She became a protege and, in the years after Ashley initially divorced him, his romantic second choice.
Audra is fabulous and would be fine attracting nearly anyone in the real world. But she is not with Nate because Tucker offers an easier path to the good life. Her accurate perception that Trevor St. John's character will forever be emotionally tied to Ashley, thereby making Audra a permanent secondary consideration, continues to fuel her natural scorn.
Ashley Abbott's troubles continue abroad
Ashley has begun to accept her dissociative identity disorder. Yes, doctors like Alan enjoy long careers treating patients, however, most people would not be friends with a patient. Plus, most doctors would not have an identical twin brother who just so happens to live in Paris, France, and bumped into Tucker in the rue.
An automatic translator program would show the word "rue" as a "street" on the smartphone screens of Genoa City, Wisconsin residents who were vacationing in the French-speaking parts of Europe this June. However, the most pressing translation question involves Ashley's ability to translate many voices in her head.
That said, she is clear about meeting with the man she thought was Alan. As has now been revealed, it happened in a local watering hole the same day she and Tucker had their modest argument that broke their remarriage.
Audra Charles wants it all
Tucker's claim to Zuleyka Silver's character seemed genuine. Yet, he is likely convincing himself to feel that way because Ashley seems like a lost cause.
Audra's intent to damage Tucker's reputation by talking about the unseemly incident involving the singer she helped cover up reinforced her reality. Like Tucker, she goes for the jugular.
Ashley is more sophisticated and vulnerable than Audra. Silver's character believes, again, like Tucker, that she can only trust herself. That makes her as volatile as her ex-mentor friend and transactional romantic attachment.
Tucker McCall will never be over his true love
Ashley will learn about Alan's twin brother, and that reveal will shake her trust in an assumed confidant.
Combine the above with Audra and Tucker's fight that crossed the Atlantic Ocean and accelerated in the Parisian hotel elevator.
Viewers see a distracted Tucker, a conflicted and reduced Alan, a wild card twin brother factor, and Audra's revenge tour. However, Ashley's unresolved personality issues override everything in the last sentence and create an opportunity for a reconnection with Tucker.
Even with Traci's presence in Paris, Tucker may become Ashley's defender. This arguably meandering storyline is also nearly touching the summer line.
