Tyler James Williams names the famous artist he'd love to see guest star on Abbott Elementary
Tyler James Williams has just revealed what pop star he'd love to see guest star on Abbott Elementary and it would be a great fit!
Since premiering on ABC in 2021, Abbott Elementary has become one of the biggest hit comedies on TV. The mockumentary about a Philadelphia school focuses on the teachers handling things, from a principal with zero clue how to run the place to various antics.
The series has been a huge success, earning scores of Emmy nominations and a few wins for stars Quinta Brunson and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Among the fun cast members is Tyler James Williams, who's earned three Emmy nominations as Gregory Eddie. Originally a substitute teacher, he became a regular member of the faculty, a man who truly means well to help students while dealing with his overbearing father (Orlando Jones).
A running theme of the series has been Gregory's obvious crush on Janine Teagues (Brunson). He's dated a few women, yet in season 3, he finally came clean to Janine about his feelings. She admitted she felt the same but worried a romance would mar their working relationship and they were better off as friends.
Speaking to People magazine to promote the show's upcoming fourth season, Williams said that, like many fans, he does hope for a happy ending for Gregory and Janine.
"I would love to see them in love. I think they deserve that at this point. I would love to see them just in it. Now we have to have the conflicts... but it would be nice to see them just head over heels for each other."
There's little word yet on what season 4 will entail although the cast is excited to hit the ground running with more humor. Yet Williams shared how there's one big guest star he'd love to see.
Who does Jesse Tyler Williams want on Abbott Elementary?
When asked about any dream guest stars, Williams had one woman in mind and the role she could play.
"I would love to see Solange [Knowles] as a cousin. I feel like we look alike. It's like us and then my dad is Orlando [Jones]. Yeah, I think Solange would be great. Just add a family member."
The younger sister of Beyoncé, Solange Knowles has carved out her own good career as a singer and actress. While Beyoncé is known for her pop songs, Solange prefers R&B styles like the Motown of the 1960s. That's earned her wide praise along with a number one album for 2016's A Seat at the Table.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter has a fun presence and does bear a resemblance to Williams so might work in this role. While she doesn't have many acting roles under her belt, her stage presence proves she can be very captivating for a brief TV role.
So far, this is just a dream casting for Williams and there's no word on if Knowles even watches the show. Still, having her pop in for a guest spot would be another spark for Abbott Elementary to keep this winning comedy on track.
Abbott Elementary season 4 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 9:30/8:30c on ABC.
