Universal Basic Guys is moving to a different time on FOX! (What to know)
Universal Basic Guys, Fox's new addition to its Sunday's Animation Domination block, premiered on Sept. 8 for a proper introduction.
I must admit, the series of two brothers gaining 3K from being laid off didn't appeal to me at first. Following the third episode, "The Devil You Know," on Sept. 22, I gave UBG another chance, as the episode covered local Jersey/Pennsylvania folklore and myths. The anchoring narrative of incorporating myth with reality is a brilliant concept. For UBG's sake, I hope more storylines utilize the material, as it could catapult the show's success and take it to a new level of enjoyment.
Adding regional folklore to media will highlight the educational factor, not that I do not expect any level of learning in adult programming, but it's a fun twist when done correctly. "The Devil You Know" additionally centered on the bonding of Mark Hoagie and his teenage stepson, Darren, as they try to track down the family's boomerang but get involved with an eccentric elderly couple into the Occult.
It's rare for a show to feature a blended family, let alone in animation and aligned with folklore. The storylines surrounding Mark and Darran will be another boost to UBG.
With The Simpsons premiering its long-awaited 36th season on Sept. 29, Universal Basic Guys will be given a new time slot. The Simpsons will take over the 8 p.m. slot, which has been their trademark time since its arrival. So, what time has been assigned for Universal Basic Guys? Here's what we know!
What time is Universal Basic Guys on FOX?
Reset your DVRs to 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on September 29 because that will be the new and permanent time for the series. The move additionally pushes another Animation Domination favorite, Bob's Burgers, to 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. Like The Simpsons, Bob's will have its premiere with season 15.
In my upcoming article for Duff and Donuts' relaunch on Oct. 1, I mentioned that Mark should be more supportive of his wife, Tammy, as any husband should be. This Sunday, it looks like my prediction will manifest with episode 4, "Guys Day."
According to the synopsis from FOX, "Guys Day" will have Mark being accepted to an exclusive, all-men country club, much to Tammy's disapproval. Mark will work on the "inside" to update the club's outdated misogynistic rules so that his wife can be part of it.
The "Guys Day" episode synopsis can be read below!
"When Tammy is upset that a country club only takes men, Mark joins it to change things from within."
As a reminder, starting this Sunday, September 29, Universal Basic Guys will at its new time of 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. ET, right after The Simpsons!
