With the 2023-24 TV season coming to a close, most shows on the five broadcast networks have learned their fates already with many series securing renewals for next year, a handful coming to a close this season with pre-planned final seasons, and a batch of unlucky shows which have been canceled with no planned endings.

As of May 5, there are only 10 shows officially awaiting their fates those shows being Alert (FOX), All American (The CW), All American: Homecoming (The CW), The Cleaning Lady (FOX), The Conners (ABC), Extended Family (NBC), The Great (FOX), Lopez vs Lopez (NBC), Not Dead Yet (ABC), and Walker (The CW). Of this group of ten series, it’s looking like more than half will be coming back for at least one more season; however, there are four series on the bubble that are expected to be canceled within the upcoming weeks.

Not Dead Yet season 3 is not likely to happen

While Not Dead Yet started strong in its first season, the second season of ABC’s Gina Rodriguez-led comedy struggled in the ratings in its second year and it’s now expected that the show might be officially dead.

Variety has reported that sources expect the series will be canceled after its second season and that ABC will not be picking up a third season of the show, which is disappointing for fans. The show ended with a bit of a cliffhanger as it was hinted that Lexi’s dad, Duncan, knows about Nell’s ability to see the dead after his own near-death experience.

Sadly, it sounds like ABC is going to be pulling the plug on Not Dead Yet which means we won’t get to see what fallout comes after the finale or ever see how Nell’s friends react to the secret she’s been keeping from them over the show’s two-season run.

The one silver lining is that it looks like ABC will still be in business with Rodriguez as she’s set to host their new game show Lucky 13.

The CW is expected to cancel Walker and All American: Homecoming

Within the last five years, The CW has bid farewell to nearly its entire lineup of shows and it seems the purge isn’t complete just yet. After the sale of the network, shows have been shown the door left and right and it sounds like Walker and All American: Homecoming are about to become the two latest CW casualties.

Sources have indicated to Variety that the two shows are expected to end with their current seasons and that The CW will not be bringing either show back for the 2024-25 season. The only bubble show on The CW’s lineup that is expected to return is All American, though it sounds like if The CW does renew the series it will look quite different with possible cast changes coming for the show.

Lopez vs Lopez is expected to be canceled, while Extended Family could be renewed

NBC only has two shows on the bubble as of May 5 with comedies Lopez vs Lopez and Extended Family both hoping to get another season. Unfortunately, it seems like only one of the two shows will be coming back next year – and that’s a big if.

Both shows haven’t exactly been rating hits, but it seems that NBC is considering bringing Extended Family back for a second season while Lopez vs Lopez is expected to be canceled after just two seasons. The move, while unfortunate, isn’t too surprising as Extended Family boasts a higher-profile cast led by Jon Cryer, Donald Faison, and Abigail Spencer.

Still, the possible cancellation of Lopez vs Lopez is more than a little disappointing given the big hopes the cast had for season 3 which included a wedding for Mayan and Quinten.

We should know for certain what shows are in danger of ending within the weeks ahead, but at this time it's not looking good at all for All American: Homecoming, Lopez vs Lopez, Not Dead Yet, or Walker.
