Fire Country season 3 is coming our way in Fall 2024. Not much is known about the upcoming installment of the hit CBS franchise but, based on the season 2 finale and what's been teased so far, we do know that we're in for a season that'll explore interesting and tense new dynamics. For instance, Bode is now a free man, Gabriela and Diego's wedding has been left in limbo, Jake just learned Genevieve's biological father is someone from his past, and Sharon has put Luke on notice.

Curious about what you can expect from the show's third season? Here's what we know about each character's journey and how it'll shape the firefighter drama moving forward!

I Do
“I Do” – Gabriela prepares to walk down the aisle on her wedding day as Bode receives some surprising news, on the second season finale of FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, May 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ Pictured: Adam Aalderks as Rick Stengler and Max Thieriot as Bode Leone. Bode fights to become a Cal Fire firefighter and navigates being single

Fire Country season 2 ends with Bode stuck between a rock and a hard place. Since he's been released from prison, and therefore the Three Rock con camp fire program, he hasn't been able to work as a firefighter. In "I Do," it was revealed that there's been push back from the union on former inmates joining Cal Fire's ranks. But Bode isn't ready to give up his dream of stepping into his Leone legacy, so he asks his uncle Luke for assistance. He doesn't care what Luke has to do, whether it's pulling strings or not, he wants to get right back in the thick of things.

However, besides working toward becoming a probie, Bode will also be testing out the waters now that he's single. Yes, that does mean that he and Gabriela aren't together at the start of season 3. But that doesn't necessarily mean Gabriela and Diego tied the knot. Tia Napolitano shared the following when teasing what's ahead for Bode:

"Our goal is to have a lot of fun with him next season and really let him in on the fun that Eve and Gabriela and Jake have as young, single people. Yeah, we really want to bring some levity and joy to Bode."

Notice how Napolitano included Gabriela in "young, single people." That's possibly foreshadowing for the way the Fire Country writers will be resolving the season 2 ending cliffhanger at the wedding.

Gabriela has a decision to make at her wedding to Diego

Of course, we all expect to get an answer to whether or not Gabriela and Diego tie the knot but it doesn't sound like it's going to be a decision that happens off-screen. Napolitano also shared with TVLine that Rafael de la Fuente will be reprising the role of Diego Morena in season 3. She said: "We’ll see some Diego…We’ve got to find out how that wedding ended, don’t we?”

What she didn't speak to is in what capacity and how long we'll still have Diego on the show. But, unless there's a plot twist no one sees coming, it's not expected that the two will get married. One, because Gabriela's heart is still clearly with Bode and, two, because we don't know much about Diego. The lack of storytelling around him, particularly outside of his romance with Gabriela, doesn't bode well for him sticking around for long.

If Gabriela really is a part of the "young, single people" in Edgewater, perhaps this means she will be free of yet another romantic relationship on the show. I'm rooting for Gode, but if they aren't going to be together in season 3, or at least a good portion of it, then hopefully the writers don't put her with someone else...again.

This Storm Will Pass
“This Storm Will Pass” – The station 42 crew must protect Edgewater and take cover when an extremely rare and dangerous fire tornado leaves lives in peril, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, April 5 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. /

Jake struggles with Gen's birth father being in the picture

If you were hoping for Jake being able to catch a break, I'm sorry to say that won't be the case. He lost Cara last season and it's possible he might lose Genevieve in season 3. Though that won't be because of an untimely demise but the appearance of her birth father, Rick Stengler, who we met in the season 2 finale. Rick was bad news back in the day but he claims to have turned over a new leaf. Napolitano teased the following about what to expect from this storyline:

"If Rick’s been incarcerated, just like Bode has, and is claiming to be clean now, just like Bode, it tests our people’s belief in redemption. Is redemption just for Bode or is it for all people? Is Rick redeemable? Can we open our hearts to him? But Jake’s heart is going to break over and over. This Gen thing just got settled, and for it to be ripped open by Rick’s presence is going to be heartbreaking for him. Jake looks at Genevieve just sipping that milkshake and he knows this bullet is coming for her, and he can’t protect her from it."

The bullet she's referring to has to do with the instability that Gen has been dealing with ever since she lost who she thought was her mother. First she learned she was being raised by her grandmother and her sister, Cara, was actually her birth mom. Then, just a few months later, she lost Cara, too. This prompted the Leones to take her in since there was a good chance she was Bode's daughter. But he wasn't her father so, after some encouragement to express how she's really feeling, she got to live with Jake again which made her happy.

The one consistent truth of Gen's life recently has been Jake as her father figure. They've been a family since he and Cara's relationship got serious, and he intended on marrying her but never got a chance to propose. But, with Rick in the picture, Gen's dream of Jake raising her could be in jeopardy.

A Hail Mary
“A Hail Mary” – The future of Three Rock is in jeopardy as public opinion of the camp grows increasingly negative, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, April 26 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Eve is still Captain of Three Rock

With the crisis of Three Rock potentially closing behind her, and after turning down a promotion, Eve will still be leading the inmate firefighter crew. Napolitano has stated that we'll learn more about Eve's backstory in season 3 but the details on how that will inform her storylines are still under wraps. Hopefully, with talk of fans getting to see the younger characters enjoy the single life, that Eve will finally be put on the path to getting her own season defining romance to explore. In the meantime, we can share that she and Cole will still be cutting up at the camp, so Tye White will be back in season 3.

No Future, No Consequences
“No Future, No Consequences” – Station 42 and Three Rock battle a dangerous campaign fire where our heroes struggle with difficult decisions, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, May 10 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. The road ahead for Manny will likely be rough

Manny was arrested in "I Do" and that may not be a storyline that's resolved quickly next season. While his anger toward Luke was justified after they all learned he was the one who'd convinced the governor to close Three Rock, he assaulted the division chief and their fight led to a fire. That's why he was brought up on charges. I don't see Manny serving jail time but that doesn't mean the plot around his arrest and what he's facing won't have consequences for his career.

Sharon is going after Luke's job

This plot could get wrapped up in as little as a line of dialogue but Sharon made it clear to her brother-in-law Luke that he's done warming her seat as division chief. Having satisfied her need to be hands on in the field, and seeing that he can't do the job up to her standards, Sharon has decided to take her old job back. But will it be that easy? If Bode's need for his uncle's help is contingent on him remaining in the position, likely not.

“See You Next Apocalypse” – When a family refuses to evacuate their property during a massive wildfire that is escalating quickly, Jake is faced with a heartbreaking decision, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, March 1 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Vince will be back on the job

Though Vince had a health scare due to an arrhythmia caused by the injuries he sustained after being electrocuted, we won't be seeing him sitting on the sidelines in season 3 like we did in the season 2 finale. He had his curative procedure which means that by the time we're reunited with him, he should be back to overseeing Station 42 on calls as Battalion Chief. We're also likely to see Vince during his "downtime" like Billy Burke wanted.
