Where you know the High Potential cast from: Hacks, SNL, Scrubs, Batwoman and more!
By Sabrina Reed
High Potential is making its debut on ABC. The new procedural, which flits between comedy and drama, stars Kaitlin Olson as a genius who gets hired as a police consultant after she makes a break in a case that changes the tide of the investigation. Her decision to highlight what they'd missed takes her from cleaning the precinct to helping to solve crimes with Det. Karadec who is definitely not as free spirited as Morgan nor would he bring children to a crime scene but, hey, Morgan is a single mother with three kids, where she goes they go if that's what has to happen.
The show's cast is filled with more than one familiar face. If the name of one of the main and recurring actors is on the tip of your tongue or you're trying to remember what you've seen them in, we've got you covered. Below you'll find information on the past memorable credits of the actors on the show!
Kaitlin Olson as Morgan
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans know Kaitlin Olson for her role as Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds who worked as a waitress, and sometimes a bartender, at Paddy's Pub. She played Dennis' twin who seems like she's more reasonable and moral than The Gang but it's slowly revealed that she's just as petty as them if not more. Olson is also known for playing DJ Vance on Hacks. Hannah Einbinder has referred to her as "the most confident comedic performer ever," so expect Olson to bring those chops to this procedural.
Daniel Sunjata as Karadec
Fans of The Devil Wears Prada will recognize Daniel Sunjata for his role as James Holt, the fashion designer who plays an integral role in the film's ending twist. But Sunjata is also known for Graceland, a USA Network drama where he starred as Paul Briggs, a senior agent in charge of a house full of undercover operatives. The character is the antithesis of the by-the-book Det. Karadec who isn't being billed as incredibly duplicitous and untrustworthy. Sunjata also played the NYPD firefighter Franco Rivera on Rescue Me, an irreverent first responder dramedy that takes place after 9/11.
Judy Reyes as Selena
Judy Reyes is such a prolific TV actress that we all turn into the Leonardo DiCaprio meme pointing our finger at the screen because we know her. For some that's because she starred on Scrubs as Carla Espinosa, the head nurse of Sacred Heart's Intensive Care Unit who essentially ran the hospital. Prone to speaking her mind, Carla didn't take any nonsense but she always helped where she could professionally and personally. Other TV lovers will remember Reyes for her turn as Zoila Diaz in Devious Maids. For me, it's her role on Jane the Virgin as Dina Milagro, a telenovela showrunner who tries to take Rogelio de la Vega down by exposing his diva ways but who later grows close to him.
Javicia Leslie as Daphne
High Potential serves as a reunion for Javicia Leslie and Judy Reyes as the latter played Kiki Roulette on Batwoman, the series that made Leslie a household name. The actress is no longer jumping off buildings with a cape flowing behind her but her character Daphne has vowed to protect and serve just like Ryan Wilder. Prior to her starring role on The CW, Leslie played Paris Duncan on Carl Weber's The Family Business and continues to appear as the spoiled party girl who knows her way around a gun.
Deniz Akdeniz as Lev "Oz" Osman
Deniz Akdeniz has gone from being a hacker on The Flight Attendant to being a lawman in this procedural. His character Max Park on the hit Max series saw him helping Cassie as he and Annie, his girlfriend who won't call him her boyfriend, navigated their romance. The actor also appeared on the short lived The Rookie: Feds as Mark Atlas, a profiler and the former partner of his girlfriend Laura Stensen. Akdeniz was recently seen in Ghosts season 3 as Chris, a living DJ and stripper who distracts Isaac the ghost when he's supposed to be getting married.
Amirah J as Ava
In High Potential, Amirah J plays Morgan's teenage daughter but folks watching may recognize her as Xan from Shameless. She starred on the Showtime drama in its ninth season playing a young girl who'd been abandoned by her mother. Her character grew so close to Jeremy Allen White's Lip Gallagher that he was making plans to adopt her so she'd have a more stable home life.
Matthew Lamb as Eliot
As a young actor, Matthew Lamb doesn't have many credits but they are memorable. He played Jackson, a boy who gets a rather upsetting birthday gift in Smile. Lamb also stepped into the role of Little Charles for Only Murders in the Building, portraying the younger version of Steve Martin's character.
Taran Killam as Ludo Radovic
Like Kaitlin Olson, Taran Killam will be bringing his comedic talent to the role of Ludo, Morgan's ex and the father of Eliot and Chloe. Best known for his work on Saturday Night Live, Killam has also starred in Single Parents as Will Cooper, a single father to a first grader. As well as Steve Jones in American Crime Story: Impeachment where his character was based on the real life, hostile husband of Paula Jones, the former Arizona state employee who sued President Bill Clinton for sexual harassment.
Garret Dillahunt as Lt. Melon
With a name like Lt. Melon, you know jokes are going to be cracked about Garret Dillahunt's character but the jerk will have to take them on the chin since he's sour over Selena getting the position he wanted. As for Dillahunt, he's been in quite a few shows you'll know. In Raising Hope he played Burt Chance, the titular character's grandfather who loves his family dearly and is a bit of a flirt. Fans of The Mindy Project will recognize the actor as Dr. Jody Kimball-Kinney, a womanizer who tended only to listen to himself or white men, no one else. Dillahunt also starred in Fear the Walking Dead as John Dorie, a lonely former police officer who befriends Morgan Jones.
