Which Bob's Burgers finale was better: Season 13 or season 14?

Season 14 of Bob's Burgers is coming to an end but not before looking back.
BOB'S BURGERS: When Bosco goes to Bob needing to learn how to make a burger for an undercover mission to oust criminal and burger joint owner Vincent Balicki, it becomes obvious that the sergeant is severely lacking in cooking knowledge. As Bob’s family constantly halts any progress in Bob’s lessons, Bosco, still unseasoned, goes to his interview, only to meet with his potential criminal employer again back at Bob’s Burgers for a spontaneous burger-making test on the all-new "To Catch A Beef"

To say season 14 of Bob's Burgers was unexpected would be an understatement. Not only did the show have some excellent episodes, but it was also surprisingly short.

Unlike the show's previous season orders, season 14 of Bob's Burgers only had 16 episodes. This was due to the Hollywood strikes going on while in production. However, we did get some bonus Bob's episodes including the show's official finale: "To Catch A Beef."

With things wrapping up and most of us looking forward to season 15, we're going even further back and looking at the season 13 finale which was "Amelia," an episode that would go on to be dedicated to Paul Reubens who made a guest appearance.

While it's not going to be an easy comparison, only one episode can be the winner so let's get into it.

Bob's Burgers season 13 season finale: "Amelia."

To put "To Catch A Beef" up against "Amelia" is truly a feat. Serving as both a Mother's Day episode and a Louise-centric episode, "Amelia" has it all. While we shared a recap after its premiere here's a very brief plot synopsis if you missed it or forgot. The episode follows Louise, doing a report on Amelia Earhart as her hero and putting a lot of time and energy into it despite the fate of Amelia Earhart.

Aside from being a great episode for Louise, it also focuses on the relationship between Linda and Louise which is nice. These two aren't featured as much as other pairings and it's great to see Linda reassure Louise about everything. Ultimately, it's an incredibly heartfelt episode and made for an incredible finale to a season that was full of ups and downs. If you haven't watched the episode yet, then this is one you don't want to miss.

Season 14 gave us "To Catch A Beef"

Serving as the season 14 finale, "To Catch A Beef" follows Sergeant Bosco enlisting Bob to help him become a burger cook for an undercover mission. Bob reluctantly agrees but Bosco doesn't take it seriously until his job interview gets moved up to meet with the mobster. That same day, Vincent shows up at Bob's Burgers and sees Bosco so Bob pretends to be his former boss. Bosco is terrible so Bob swaps out the burger for his own to save them. The episode ends with Vincent not even being the one they're looking for yet he still steals the pickle from the restaurant.

When most of us are watching Bob's Burgers, our stress levels aren't very high but "To Catch A Beef" completely flipped that idea on its head. This was incredibly stressful as we never knew if Teddy was going to blow his cover or if Bosco could make it work. However, things worked out perfectly in the end and we even got that surprising moment with Vincent in the end. As far as season finales go, this is one of the better ones.

Which Bob's Burgers season finale is the winner?

"To Catch A Beef" was such a fun and surprisingly suspenseful episode yet the clear winner between the two is "Amelia." Season 13's finale just felt more impactful and gave us a taste of what was come with season 14. "Amelia" truly felt like a sneak peek of some of the more impactful and mature topics the show would tackle. Of course, it was still done in the same typical Bob's Burgers fashion which is why the show is still as beloved now more than ever.

Regardless of how you feel about these finales, "Amelia" and "To Catch A Beef" are both good in their own right. While it might be unfair to compare them, it's all in good fun. Plus it gives us something to noodle on ahead of season 15 which is premiering next week after the handful of bonus episodes.

Season 15 of Bob's Burgers premieres on Sept. 29 on Fox at 9/8c.
