Who Jenn sent home on The Bachelorette's Hometowns episode isn't surprising

Jenn Tran's Hometowns episode of The Bachelorette played out quite how you'd expect. There was a lot of repetitive conversation about how far along she and her suitors are when it comes to their feelings. Devin has never been shy about where he stands but he still needed some encouragement from his mom to take that final step to tell Jenn he's falling for her.

Jonathan was in the same boat and needed that supportive push as well. Marcus, the suitor with the highest and thickest walls around his heart, also expressed that he, too, is falling for Jenn. Though it should be noted that when the guys met up to discuss what Hometowns was like for them, Marcus realized that he was somewhat behind them in the romance department. He's struggled to see what was keeping him from being fully certain about his bond with Jenn.

One suitor that thought he had a sure thing going with our leady lady was Jeremy but he found out at the rose ceremony that they weren't on the same page. He didn't receive a rose which came as a surprise to him but it wasn't a shock to the fandom. Out of the four men who'd made it to Hometowns, Jeremy had the lease amount of solo screen time with Jenn prior to her meeting his family.

Their first one-on-one date was last episode. And, while Jenn has said that she has fun with Jeremy, she was having a hard time seeing if they could go the distance. Their relationship didn't seem to have the depth that her other bonds have. It didn't help matters that Jeremy's mom wasn't sure about their relationship either. She said that when Jenn was first announced and shared what she's looking for in a partner, Jeremy didn't fit the bill.

While she didn't write off their romance, she couldn't quite throw her full support behind it either since she doesn't know Jenn and hasn't had the opportunity to see how they are together for more than a few hours. Jeremy's sister also didn't think the couple had hit the benchmarks they needed to at this point in the season to feel confident about their relationship.

Though Jeremy did tell Jenn he's falling for her, his interpretation of the word 'love' in the context he said it in had to do with how much he enjoys being with her and not being able to imagine not being together. It wasn't the strongest of declarations nor did it move Jenn emotionally like Marcus' confession did. She consistently has had a deeper connection with Marcus, Devin, and Jonathan and Hometowns cemented that fact.
