Season 7 is the last, which means it's time to bid farewell, get closure, and gear up for what we think is going to be the best season yet.

2024 is an exciting year I'm definitely looking forward to, and I'm sure you fellow TV addicts are just the same! That's because we have a ton of our favorite shows returning after the strike delays. There's going to be too much content to keep up with. And that's how I like it! CBS has new seasons for the FBI shows, the CSI franchise, So Help Me Todd, and more headed our way. Though there is one series that sticks out and is a must-see in 2024. And that's Young Sheldon season 7!

I still can’t believe we’ve reached this point. But it’s almost time to say goodbye to the fan-favorite sitcom when the new season premieres Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. It’s certainly bittersweet that Young Sheldon season 7 is the last. For my fellow The Big Bang Theory fans, this served as a connection and extension to the flagship series, even though Young Sheldon can be watched as a standalone. But it's time to bid farewell, and I do think it's time for the show to end.

There's three major reasons why the sitcom is at the very top of our list of what to watch on CBS in the new year: it’s the farewell season, a chance for closure, and we expect the season 7 storyline to be the best one yet. Of course the biggest reason we think you should watch Young Sheldon season 7 is because it’s the comedy-drama’s last.

Saying goodbye to the Coopers

The final seasons are usually the most nostalgic ones. They look back on great moments and have callbacks to elements from earlier installments. With Young Sheldon being a prequel series, it can even reference things that happen in the future for The Big Bang Theory characters thanks to Jim Parsons’ voiceover of Adult Sheldon. There’s some great voice cameos we’ve gotten, but there’s still a few we’re hoping to get in the seventh and final season before it comes to a close. And I really think the show can make that happen! This is also the best time to bring back fan-favorite guest stars like Mckenna Grace as Paige.

Fans will get closure

Another reason the series is a must-watch in 2024 is due to closure. Even if I stop watching a certain series in the middle of its run, sometimes I'll tune in to the final season or episodes just to see how it comes to a close. When you start a show and watch for a few seasons, you want to know the conclusion.

Now we might have a bittersweet Young Sheldon ending based on what Big Bang established about George. Based on TBBT, Sheldon catches his dad cheating on Mary when he's around 13 years old, and he dies a year later. That's currently around old Sheldon is now.

Or, and I think this would be better, the series might decide to end with Sheldon just heading to CalTech. It’s no secret the show hasn’t stuck to canon established in the flagship series strictly. So they can change up the timeline of events a little bit. Young Sheldon has also created a more likable character in George, and it's hard to think about where his story is supposed to end up.

After all the ups and downs the Coopers have been through throughout the years, it will be nice to see where each character will end up. At least in that point of time. Because even though this show started off centered mostly around Sheldon, I for one have grown to care about the other members of his family too and definitely and have become invested in their stories. So I’m hoping we end on a more sweet and positive note than what might be coming with George’s story.

Young Sheldon season 7 is going to be the best season

Finally, I truly believe season 7 is going to have the best storyline yet! We left off in the sixth season with Sheldon and Mary in Germany, Georgie and Mandy engaged (and may be getting their own spin-off series!), Meemaw's house destroyed by the tornado, and George and Missy forming a connection. It's all really interesting plot points for the final season. Perhaps Sheldon will make an important discovery abroad, the engaged couple could plan their wedding, maybe the whole Cooper family will come together to support Connie and help her rebuild or find a new home, and potentially some more sweet family moments will be sprinkled in. These are all things we're hoping to see in the seventh season!

The comedy's new installment is getting a shorter season of 14 episodes, and I think that's going to work in the show's favor. Previous ones have had quite a few filler episodes. But this will force the series to focus on the story and elements they want to get out and portray before the comedy has its final moments. There’s many times when a series has gone on as long as Young Sheldon has, that the first and final seasons are ones people remember the most and look back on. And that’s why we think Young Sheldon season  7 is the must-see show of 2024 on CBS. Will you be tuning in?

Young Sheldon season 7 premieres Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The one-hour finale is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET. Episodes will be available to stream on Paramount+ the next day they air.
