The FBI season 6 finale, "Ring of Fire," had been touted as the confrontation we'd been waiting for between Tiffany Wallace and the Somalian terrorist Hakeem who'd taken Agent Hobbs' life in the season premiere. However, the majority of the episode had been spent on the team trying to deduce what connected the killings of multiple CIA agents and a female weapons maker.

As the mystery surrounding the case slowly unraveled, it caught fire when surveillance footage picked up Hakim. It put him and his organization at the heart of what was going on as they were using grenade launchers to make a deadly statement on their position toward America. The situation came to a head when the team tracked down Bashir and Hakim.

While there was an explosion that put lives at risk, the agents were able to contain the scene. Scola took out Bashir. That left Hakim to be handled. Maggie and Tiffany went after him, but it was Tiffany who had him at gunpoint. She demanded he drop his weapons, which he did, and then she shot him. From Maggie's vantage point, she saw that he'd been unarmed and was shocked by Tiffany's actions.

Hakeem was confirmed dead. Tiffany said he had a gun but Maggie told OA and Scola that she didn't see one. Earlier in the episode, Jubal had been concerned about Tiffany's mental fitness considering the weight of Hobbs' death but she assured him she was fine. In the face of what looked to be a bad shooting, it appeared that she wasn't as fine as she thought she was. Then, a gun was found on Hakim's body like she said.

All of the agents were relieved but is this really the end of that plot? Yes, based on what Katherine Renee Kane had to say in an interview with TVLine where she explained Tiffany's mindset after Hakim's death:

"I think she’s shook. She’s really shook in the immediate moments after. There’s a lot of hesitation about what’s transpired. It happened so quickly, and I imagine that’s how it happens in real life when agents are pursuing a suspect. You have no idea what they’re going to do in a moment, and you try your best to choose the best response in order to protect your fellow agents, to protect the people you’re sworn to protect — and also yourself. So, I think it was really arresting, but she’s now able to breathe a little bit better, knowing that all things have resolved themselves. She can really close this chapter."

So it does look like the FBI writers have wrapped up this storyline for Tiffany particularly since Kane had been worried that the plot was going to take quite the dark turn for her character. She even wondered if Tiffany's actions would result in a bad shooting investigation in season 7. But as she said: "I was so relieved when we found that there was a gun, and that’s a testament to the writers’ room, how they like to keep the suspense up."

It wasn't clear that Tiffany knew that Hakim had a gun on him or looked like he was going for it but that holding of tension was purposeful since we, like Maggie, didn't see the full picture. With Tiffany paying Hobbs' wife, Jennifer, a visit to bring her closure by letting her know that her husband's murderer was dead, FBI has closed the book on this story.
