Spoilers ahead for Friday's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful as well as the preview for next week's episodes.

Ridge Forrester truly laid into Carter Walton on Friday, Nov. 27's episode of The Bold and the Beautiful but it was well deserved. His COO is trying to take his family company and it's all over hurt feelings and his ill-advised romance with Hope Logan. Ridge is of the mind that Hope is using Carter and that she's the one truly responsible for his backstabbing. As such, Ridge did something that I certainly didn't expect, he offered Carter an out.

Because Carter is his best friend and family, not to mention he loves him like a brother, Ridge told him that they could move past this major betrayal. They would need to draw up new papers to rectify what Carter had done but he's fully willing to put this behind them and let him keep his job. The catch? Carter has to break up with Hope. The episode ended before Carter gave him an answer but the preview hinted at what his decision will be and it's not going to be what Ridge wants to hear.

In the glimpse of what's to come the week of Dec. 2 on The Bold and the Beautiful, we see Hope telling her mother, Brooke Logan, that Carter has filed the papers. Unless she's bluffing, or somehow out of lockstep with her paramour, her statement means that Ridge's ultimatum ended up being fuel to Carter's fire. He's been warring over going through with coup but being expected to end his five minute relationship with Hope seems to have been beyond the pale.

The big question is whether or not filing means that Carter will in fact have control of Forrester Creations. Ridge was flippant in front of the COO about the documents he signed, but he knows what Carter did is serious, it's why he called in Justin Barber to give him legal counsel. The preview didn't show Justin looking like he was able to take care of the situation like Ridge, Steffy, and Eric hoped but that could just be meant to throw us off, we'll have to wait to see how the scene plays out.

In the meantime, it really does look like Carter has hitched his wagon to Hope's even if it means nose diving his career off of a cliff. Ridge said she has his claws in him and that's quite clear because Carter isn't thinking straight at all. The two of them have big plans for Forrester but how exactly are they going to create the supposedly better environment they want when everyone at the company will know they forced the Forresters out of their family's fashion house?

This move means the company will no longer have a head of couture. Not to mention all of their major designers are Forresters. I don't see how they aren't about to close ranks especially since their legacy is based on Eric's, the family patriarch, and he certainly doesn't deserve for any of this to be happening. Carter and Hope are picking the wrong fight, and if they move forward with what they want to do they could very well find themselves with a fashion firm and no senior employees with the clout and know-how they need for it to be successful.
