Even though he isn’t returning to play the younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Sean Harmon is coming to NCIS: Origins for season 3. Mark Harmon’s son has served as an executive producer on the show. However, now he will return in a different role. What do we know about his appearance?
It won’t be long until we see Harmon back onscreen for the NCIS franchise. He played the younger Gibbs on NCIS but declined to take up the mantle for the prequel series. However, he will appear in the second episode of Season 3 of NCIS: Origins.
From what was released so far, he has been cast as an FBI agent named Casey Bloom in the episode titled “My Own Worst Enemy.” The episode will follow the older Gibbs as he heads back to California to find his old friend and colleague, Woody, to get some help after old demons find him in Alaska.
In the meantime, the team back in 1992 will have to help Woody after he is “accused of murdering a bowling rival,” as per the synopsis. Of course, given that we have seen Woody appear recently on NCIS in the present day, we’re sure things work out for him. Of course, you do never know with this show since there could be a twist.
It isn’t clear how FBI Casey Bloom will be part of things, whether in the past or present. But it would be cool to see him share the screen with his real-life dad. Harmon said in a past interview that his son enjoyed executive producing and did other things besides acting, having made a choice that was best at the time. But now it will be exciting to see him in a different NCIS role than the one fans previously saw him in.
NCIS: Origins will premiere with the team working to find their colleague, Special Agent Bernard “Randy” Randolf, after he was abducted in the season 2 finale. Plus, Gibbs and Agent Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez will also be dealing with the aftermath of their steamy kiss.
Fans will get to see Mark Harmon in every episode of season 3, as what brings him back to California has to do with an old mystery from his time at Camp Pendleton. We’re looking forward to seeing what is next for everyone for season 3!
