It seems Sheriff Country fans can expect a crossover with Fire Country early in the show's second season.

When Sheriff Country season 2 arrives this fall on CBS, it seems fans won’t have to wait long for the show to stage a crossover event with Fire Country

Star Matt Lauria took a break between filming season 2, which is officially underway in Canada, to share a fun behind-the-scenes tease. In a newly shared video, we see a pair of chairs on the set: one featuring the name of Lauria’s character and the second featuring the name of Matt Thieriot’s Fire Country character's name. As the camera cuts, the pair of actors appear in the seats and flash a smile for the camera before the video loops back through.

“Starting the season off with a bang,” Lauria teased of the early crossover event between the two series.

It’s clear that CBS is preparing to stage yet another Sheriff Country and Fire Country crossover, but what remains to be seen is just how big this crossover will be.

In the first season of Sheriff Country, we saw the show stage several smaller crossovers with characters from Fire Country crossing over into the series for a guest appearance. This led up to a major crossover event that unfolded across the shows late in the season and told a cohesive story that began in Sheriff Country and wrapped up in Fire Country.

Considering Lauria only teased Thieriot’s appearance, it seems that the show is currently filming a smaller-scale crossover, which will see Bodie appearing in the episode. That would certainly make sense as we imagine CBS might try to pull off a bigger crossover event mid-to-late in the season, though it might be harder to pull one off with Fire Country producing fewer episodes in its forthcoming fifth season.

Regardless of what might be in the works, it’s exciting to know that we’re going to get to see Bodie appearing early in the second season of Sheriff Country. After everything his aunt Mickey and cousin Skye went through in the final episodes of season 1, we’re sure he’s going to have a lot to catch up on when he catches up with the pair.

Season 2 ended with the shocking revelation that Mickey's mother, Maria, who was presumed dead, was alive and well. Not only was Maria alive, but she had been hiding right under Mickey's nose as the Deputy Director of the DEA, having taken up a new identity as Eva Santos. The revelation shocked fans just as much as it surprised Mickey, and the fallout is sure to be a major storyline in the show's second season.

Sheriff Country and Fire Country return to CBS’s lineup on Fridays this fall!
