Strictly spoilers and results 2024: Who is leaving on Strictly Come Dancing Week 5?
The competition continues to heat up on Strictly Come Dancing. The long-running BBC staple is currently in the midst of its 22nd series, and to say that the competition is well underway would be an understatement.
Last week's episode saw the first shock Dance-Off of the series as Shayne Ward, who had a high score and landed in the upper half of the middle of the Leaderboard had to dance again to remain in the competition. He did so well, but it once again highlighted how anything can happen on Strictly when the public vote (and multiple ties on the Leaderboard!) is involved. And with Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk departing the series last week after elimination, the remaining 13 couples took on new dances this week in a bid to impress the judges and the viewers at home. But who thrived and who struggled?
Here are all of the Strictly spoilers, results, and scores from the Week 5 Saturday Night show.
Strictly spoilers and results: Week 5 Leaderboard
Week 5 is always an interesting stage for the competition. It's when the judges start being a little more picky than usual, offering up advice that they feel can help the contestants, while the contestants themselves feel the pressure of having been dancing for over a month. Some thrive under that pressure while others struggle. That certainly rings true this year.
EastEnders star Jamie Borthwick and his partner Michelle Tsiakkas delivered an incredible Paso Doble that had the judges on their feet commending Jamie for his shaping and performance, while Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe brought the house down with a stunning Couple's Choice routine that ended the show on a high. Both couples topped the Leaderboard with 39, while other strong performances came from Chris and Dianne (who delivered a moving Waltz), Sarah and Vito (with a lively Samba), Wynne and Katya (with a quirky Quickstep), and Tasha and Aljaž (with a powerful Tango).
With just one tie this week, the Leaderboard looks a lot longer than it did last week, but who landed where in what was a very interesting week for the series.
Here are the results from the Strictly Week 5 Saturday night show, the scores, and the Leaderboard we were left with:

Who is in danger on Strictly Come Dancing Week 5?
There are a lot less ties on the Leaderboard this week which means that there are far more points between the couples at the top and the couples at the bottom. That makes it difficult for a couple in danger to escape the dreaded Dance-Off and it also makes it far less likely that a high-scoring couple could find themselves there. But it doesn't rule either out entirely either, and it's important to remember that.
Paul and Karen have once again found themselves in the danger zone at the bottom of the Leaderboard and that unfortunately makes them most likely to find themselves in the Dance-Off. Though Paul's public support is strong enough to have saved him from two Dance-Offs, he did find himself in one before, so all it takes is one low-scoring week to find himself there again. He certainly did an admirable job with the very complex Samba, but it wasn't enough to help him escape the bottom of the Leaderboard.
Punam and Gorka are also in danger in the second-from-bottom placement on the Leaderboard, but they have escaped thanks to public support on multiple occasions. And after that shockingly underscored Viennese Waltz, it wouldn't be surprising if her fans came out to vote in full force once again. The same can be said for Pete and Jowita and Sam and Nikita.
Anyone in the lower half of the Leaderboard is in danger right now, but we wouldn't rule out a shock appearance from JB or Shayne Ward.
Taking that into account, we're predicting Paul and Karen vs. anyone from Shayne or below on the Leaderboard. It won't be anyone above him.
Update, Sunday October 20: Paul and Karen did indeed have to dance off against JB and Amy. The judges unanimously saved JB and Amy, which resulted in Paul and Karen's elimination from the competition. But they did, however, praise Paul on bringing the party and delivering on a difficult dance.
