There's more great news in store for Sullivan's Crossing fans regarding the future of the hit romantic drama series. Earlier this summer, the series landed a no-brainer season 5 renewal from its Canadian network CTV, but American fans had been left to wait for weeks into the summer to learn what the future holds in the US. Thankfully, The CW has finally broken its silence.

After Sullivan's Crossing season 5 was picked up by CTV and its streaming service Crave in Canada, the show's fate on The CW remained a question mark. While reports suggested that the deal was imminent and being ironed out, the waiting continued. But on July 16, the news arrived that The CW has now formally renewed the show's fifth season and will be back next year!

Sullivan's Crossing season 5 confirmed by The CW

The pickup might have been inevitable, but getting the official update that Sullivan's Crossing season 5 will air on The CW is news worth celebrating. Considering that the show also continues to be popular on Netflix in the United States, thanks to a deal with The CW, there was a slim chance that The CW would have ever thought about breaking its first-window pact for the series.

Sullivan's Crossing season 5 begins production in July 2026, in preparation for a premiere in early 2027. The CW has also already confirmed a 2027 release window, and while a month or season wasn't provided, the series typically begins airing on both CTV and The CW in March or April and should maintain that timeframe for the fifth season next year.

The finalized deal for Sullivan's Crossing season 5 on The CW doesn't include any new details or teases for fans to parse over while we wait for new episodes to arrive. But we do know that the season will once again contain 10 episodes and, per a previous update about the show's latest behind the scenes shuffle, there are some big changes in store.

After losing Scott Patterson ahead of season 4, Sullivan's Crossing loses another original member of the team as creator and showrunner Roma Roth departed her post as the series' showrunner. She will remain on board as an executive producer, but she has handed the reins over to the new showrunner and head writer Floyd Kane. More than likely, fans won't even notice the change.

Roth left the series to focus on her new show Thunder Point, which is also based on a series of books written by Robyn Carr and was picked up by CTV. The new romantic drama series hasn't earned a pickup in the United States since it's far too early in the development process to consider where it might air, though we can keep our fingers crossed for The CW and Netflix.

Currently, there's no news on the Sully front, which will continue to be a disappointment to fans. Patterson isn't expected to return for season 5 and reprise the role he played since the first season. But we can keep the hope alive should the series continue beyond season 5. For now, stay tuned for more Sullivan's Crossing news and updates as filming gets back in action this summer!
