Are you ready to head back to the Crossing? Well, if for some reason you aren't, it's time to start getting excited for Sullivan's Crossing season 5. Following the conclusion of the fourth season this spring, the fan-favorite romantic drama series was renewed for a fifth season by its Canadian network and its stateside home, The CW. But that's not even the best update yet.

After being confirmed to be returning for another season, fans once again expected to see the cast and crew get back to work before the end of the year. Thanfully, there haven't been any delays in the production process. On Sept. 3, Sullivan's Crossing stars Morgan Kohan and Chad Michael Murray made the announcement that cameras have officially started rolling.

Sullivan's Crossing season 5 officially started filming

Kohan and Murray appear in the video shared across social media that Sullivan's Crossing season 5 is now filming in Halifax. The stars expressed their excitement for returning to the series and continuing to bring the show to fans. Murray was so thrilled to be back that he nearly jumped off the deck they were filming the video on and into the water, but Kohan stopped him since they had another scene.

Even though Sullivan's Crossing season 5 has already started filming, don't expect the episodes to begin airing before the end of the year. Filming will continue through the remainder of 2026, ending sometime in 2026. From there, post-production will begin to get the episodes ready to air.

The series will likely return next spring, as the series has consistently premiered new seasons in either March or April. Expect the fifth season to make its premiere sometime in spring 2027 in Canada first before it makes its way to The CW shortly after.

Last season, the hit series weathered a major change to its cast with the abrupt departure of Scott Patterson, who played Harry "Sully" Sullivan for the show's first three seasons. Sully was written out of the series at the end of season 3 as he headed off on an international vacation, but fans weren't expecting him to be gone forever. Well, Patterson didn't return and cited behind the scenes drama.

Sullivan's Crossing season 5 will have another behind-the-scenes shakeup, though this one won't make much of an impact on viewers. The show's creator and original showrunner Roma Roth has stepped down as showrunner since she will be working on her new show Thunder Point, another adaptation of a Robyn Carr book series. She is replaced by new head writer Floyd Kane.

There's no doubt Kane will fit right in with the show's team of writers and craft another great season that fans will love watching from beginning to end. Sullivan's Crossing season 5 will surely receive additional updates throughout the production process and again ahead of its 2027 premiere. And for those wondering, the new season will also be available to stream on Netflix next summer.
